Image to mechanical drawing is almost solved This has never been done before AFAIK.

This needs a few more tweaks, for eg: the arrow heads are missing. TBH, I think there is value in learning to draw this by hand. IDK if this should be deployed.

This is super cool! Can you share the drawing it produced as an image or PDF? Gotta try running it through a CAD harness next

This software is for pen plotters to draw. Your CAD harness will do a better job if you give it the source image I gave to this software. Here's the image

lol, it worked!

Looks great!! This is your harness i guess, great work!

Ya, this is finite, an in-browser parametric CAD app then on top of that solid foundation we’ve got a custom harness that works with a bunch of llm models

this is cool but imp to know that CAD was never the bottleneck. it was always - tolerancing, - designing to regulations, - costs per component.

This is super dope man! This could be super useful for our business @luphraaa. Sent you a DM!

@10_X_eng

deploy!

holy fuck this is insane. let alone for IP or Figures.

very cool. curious if it could be applied to architecural/engineering docs. I've been trying to work through it and the main difficulty is proper object detection for wall/types thicknesses and other fine details as well as proper layering.

id watch this for days

image to mechanical drawing being solved is a huge milestone

What is happening here?

It's a software for this machine

Still not clear on what’s actually happening. Is there a model taking an image and drawing a mechanical drawing that gets drawn by a pen plotter?

I would like to try this with medical illustrations. Have you open sourced the project?

very nice, if you make it available i will try it by sending HGPL to my HP 7550 plotter

How to test this software?

Amazing

can it preserve stroke order and pen pressure, because visual matching alone is not replication

There is no objective stroke order for this. We are converting an image to path. All humans don't draw this in the same order. The order this software follows is a little different than most humans tho

Wow. Going from an image to a mechanical drawing is a very different bar than just copying the pixels. How are you checking whether the geometry is actually usable, not just visually close?

GitHub ?

Co0o0l. Can u tell more about how u made this? Im so interested to see how i can create a similar thing

daaaaaam this is sooo cool where is the public git i would love to take a look :)

Add the printable flat paper version and your a king

Image → mechanical drawing is a huge unlock, but I feel the really hard part is engineering semantics: tolerances, fits, materials, annotation standards… until we can reliably recover those from pixels, the problem isn’t truly “solved”.

This is impressive
