📺They picked the wrong guy to mess with. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 This intense sequence comes from The Incredible Hulk episode “The First” (Parts 1 & 2), which originally aired on March 6 and March 13, 1981. Dell Frye (Harry Townes), a bitter older man who was once turned into a Hulk-like creature, deliberately provokes a group of bullies so he can transform and get revenge for years of being pushed around. When the change hits, it’s raw, angry, and completely different in tone from David Banner’s Hulk. What makes this episode stand out is how dark it goes. This isn’t the usual “Hulk smash then run” formula — Frye’s creature is vengeful and dangerous, and the confrontation feels more personal and vicious than most episodes. Bill Bixby and the guest performance really elevate it. As we chronicled on the latest episode The Complete Hulk Hogan, Hulk and Andre took their program all around the WWF horn after Shea Stadium, with Hulk often taking quick, questionable falls after Andre fell on top of him during a bodyslam attempt. Here's a glimpse of what the match looked like at The Capital Center outside Washington DC in Sept. 1980, as covered by DC sports anchor George Michael. Listen as Michael is scoffed at by the other desk anchors for covering wrestling, and as Hogan is merely referred to as "The Peacock." Michael clearly has no idea Hulk had already slammed Andre at Shea. Michael went on to create the popular "George Michael Sports Machine" syndicated highlights show in 1984, and often found a place for wrestling clips amidst the serious sports, all the way through the Rock N' Wrestling boom. This may well be Michael's first time narrating a clip of Hogan in action, as Hogan is truly rag dolled by Andre.
