How is that groundbreaking? - plants always absorb CO2, its called photosynthesis. Plants also did this when I learned about it in school back in the seventies/eighties.... You do not need a supercomputer for that...I suggest you find another purpose for that computer 😂

To the folks commenting on "crops that absorb CO2", could it be, that it is a no brainer that the plant itself with the stems and the grain and roots, "store" CO2, but instead this is talking about ways of storing the CO2 in the ground, even after harvesting.

Steve Jobs was a great communicator of technology, and we could learn something from him today, in the context of AI. Sam Altman recently said, "If AI stays on the trajectory we think it will, then amazing things will be possible. Maybe with 10 gigawatts of compute, AI can figure out how to cure cancer." That's a fine quote. The abundance AI promises is super exciting. But Sam is saying that AI is going to figure out how to cure cancer. And if you've used these tools today, and talked to people who are at the labs, the reality is it's much more likely that humans will use AI to cure cancer. Steve might have said: "If AI stays on the trajectory we think it will, then amazing things will be possible. Maybe with 10 gigawatts of compute, humans can use AI to cure cancer." Small tweak, but a big difference. Steve Jobs was not one to shy away from impressive specs and massive scale, but flipping the final line from "AI will cure cancer" to "Humans will use AI to cure cancer" makes all the difference. Apple under Steve Jobs put human centrality at the heart of everything they did. And we need that spirit to infuse how we communicate about AI today.

This is a technology that will reshape the global economy and really the whole way we live our lives. So today, we are starting a series on unconventional ways to make money. I’ll be joined by Brian, who has an interesting entrepreneurial story, which began while he was studying at UCT. Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark on the most consequential AI milestone we're racing toward by 2028: Clark is asked about the future of AI development. He responds with a specific forecast: "My prediction is by the end of 2028, it's more likely than not that we have an AI system where you would be able to say to it, make a better version of yourself. And it just goes off and does that completely autonomously." He explains the reasoning behind this prediction: "The reason for that prediction is looking carefully at many public sources of information about AI development and seeing that we've gone from just AI systems that can do basic coding to AI systems that are now involved in the production of science itself." Clark notes it's not just the high-profile scientific work that's changing, but the underlying labor too: "And also the unglamorous but fundamental engineering work involved in doing any form of like large scale R&D project." Jack Clark explains why he felt compelled to write about this now: "I decided to write a post because the purpose of Anthropic and the Anthropic Institute is to give people a sense of what's coming and to also start talking about concepts early to give us time to think about them." Clark closes by emphasizing the stakes: "I think you and I would agree that an AI system that can build itself, big implications, and we'd like to start thinking about it now."

The TerraFab will be a very important part of that, but we must also succeed on the software front, and we’re going to be training Grok on the sum total of all SpaceX information. So in a way, it will be trained on you. You will effectively be the parents of the AI. It will inherit your thoughts and ideas and beliefs, and I think that’s a good thing. So, yeah, we’ve got to win here on the AI hardware and the AI software. That maybe is the most important message. I think that is actually the most important message I wanted to convey today is that we must win on AI because the future is overwhelmingly AI and robots. So we won’t ultimately be able to control the AI. It’ll be too smart for that. But just like if you have a child that is a super genius child, you can still instill in that child the values and beliefs that you think are good and right. And so that’s why it’s incredibly important that we succeed with Grok. So, yeah, well, Grok 4.5 you’ve tried probably. We’ve got 4.6 coming out in about a week. And then 4.7 should be really pretty special. So I’d like to encourage everyone at SpaceX to use AI and to make it better.”
