How is that groundbreaking? - plants always absorb CO2, its called photosynthesis. Plants also did this when I learned about it in school back in the seventies/eighties.... You do not need a supercomputer for that...I suggest you find another purpose for that computer 😂

I am waiting for plants that emit enough bioluminescent light to bathe a street (so we don't need streetlights) and grow in the dark (so we double CO2 capture) We're getting closer to that thanks to @Lab_Nagai efforts for the last decade

To the folks commenting on "crops that absorb CO2", could it be, that it is a no brainer that the plant itself with the stems and the grain and roots, "store" CO2, but instead this is talking about ways of storing the CO2 in the ground, even after harvesting.

Steve Jobs was a great communicator of technology, and we could learn something from him today, in the context of AI. Sam Altman recently said, "If AI stays on the trajectory we think it will, then amazing things will be possible. Maybe with 10 gigawatts of compute, AI can figure out how to cure cancer." That's a fine quote. The abundance AI promises is super exciting. But Sam is saying that AI is going to figure out how to cure cancer. And if you've used these tools today, and talked to people who are at the labs, the reality is it's much more likely that humans will use AI to cure cancer. Steve might have said: "If AI stays on the trajectory we think it will, then amazing things will be possible. Maybe with 10 gigawatts of compute, humans can use AI to cure cancer." Small tweak, but a big difference. Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark on the most consequential AI milestone we're racing toward by 2028: Clark is asked about the future of AI development. He responds with a specific forecast: "My prediction is by the end of 2028, it's more likely than not that we have an AI system where you would be able to say to it, make a better version of yourself. And it just goes off and does that completely autonomously." He explains the reasoning behind this prediction: "The reason for that prediction is looking carefully at many public sources of information about AI development and seeing that we've gone from just AI systems that can do basic coding to AI systems that are now involved in the production of science itself." Clark notes it's not just the high-profile scientific work that's changing, but the underlying labor too: "And also the unglamorous but fundamental engineering work involved in doing any form of like large scale R&D project." Jack Clark explains why he felt compelled to write about this now: "I decided to write a post because the purpose of Anthropic and the Anthropic Institute is to give people a sense of what's coming and to also start talking about concepts early to give us time to think about them." AI For The Poor, Human Intelligence For The Rich Western capitalists are selling AI to us as “the great equalizer”. But it is really not. What we are seeing is a new class system being built in real time. The rich will still pay for human teachers, human doctors, human consultants, human artists, and human care. Everyone else will be told that an AI version is good enough. When poor children are offered AI tutors instead of more teachers or working-class patients are pushed toward AI health tools instead of proper medical care, we should pay attention. AI may be useful, but it is also becoming a cheaper substitute for people who already have less. This is why African governments must be very careful about the AI policies they adopt. We cannot afford to copy and paste technology policies from the West without asking whose interests they serve. If we are not careful, AI will become another tool used to manage poverty instead of solving the systems that created it. Africans also need to be more critical of how AI is being introduced into education, healthcare, governance, welfare, and other public services. Who owns the technology? Who controls the data? Who profits from the contracts? Who is accountable when these systems fail? And most importantly, who is being asked to accept AI instead of real human care? Africa must not become a testing ground for Western-imposed systems that deepen inequality under the guise of innovation.

Today, we have begun a substantial overhaul – internal changes to make Ukraine more resilient. Last year, there were good results from state institutions that need to be scaled up, as well as problems that should not carry over into the new year. Therefore, a wave of personnel changes is underway, and more decisions will follow regarding institutions. Tomorrow, we will continue the changes. Tomorrow there will also be a meeting at the level of National Security Advisors – Europe plus the United States. Thank you to everyone who is helping!
