An ostrich at the BC ostrich farm has gotten something wrapped around its neck and the CFIA has been struggling for hours to remove it. These individuals clearly do not have the expertise to deal with these animals and should allow farm staff to help.

The Supreme Court of Canada has dismissed an application from Universal Ostrich Farms Inc. to hear an appeal in an effort to save their flock. The court unanimously dismissed the applicant’s motion for new evidence and dismissed the farm owner’s appeal, finding that the Stamping-Out Policy, the Notice to Dispose and the Exemption Denial were all “reasonable” in accordance with the applicable case law. IMPORTANT- I JUST GOT WORD OF THE JUDGES RULING AGAINST UNIVERSAL OSTRICH FARM!!!! MAD AND SAD My heart goes out to you, Katie Pasitney, and your family. I'm not sure when the CFIA intends to do the cull, but it is devastating to possibly see another farm wiped out by outdated government regulations. Please send your concerns to the CFIA or go to the farms website. I will continue to fight for this farm and try to help with an appeal or pursue other options going forward.
