Peoria, Illinois police were called to the Peoria Public Library after an adult woman refused repeated requests from staff and security to leave the children’s area. She was sitting at a table coloring when officers arrived — and she wasn’t planning on relocating. Staff said the space was reserved for children and the adults accompanying them. She argued with the policy, insisted she had a right to remain there and claimed she owned the library. Officers explained the situation several times and gave her repeated opportunities to simply get up and leave. She stayed seated. While unloading their bags of food that they were given, she makes snide remarks about how she’s a vegetarian and doesn’t like how they have her meat. They ended up following for over 20 minutes, right before she makes one of her final turns to get home. The lights come on and the officer pulls her over. I always thought that they weren’t allowed to follow you over a set number of miles. That it would entrapment. But it turned out to be a state officer, so that would make sense that they could follow from another city, but if they had cause when they followed, wouldn’t they have stopped her then?

The woman then positions herself so that he can’t close the door without harming her. She tells him to call the police so he can prove to her that he belongs there. I don’t get since when does anyone have to prove they belong to a certain neighborhood, I think she’s doing too much and should let him go about his day, what would you do to escape?
