imagine hating on something this beautiful

It’s only beautiful in a demo video in a very controlled environment. In real life however…

It’s not beautiful. It’s distracting, unnecessary, draining, functionless, anti design. There is no purpose other than its own self aggrandizement. Major fail.

Imagine not understanding how this negatively impacts visual perception It creates issues for those with impairment

Some people just hate everything that's new. They would've said the exact same in 2013 with iOS7...

Beauty is one thing, usability is another. Liquid Glass is beautiful, alluring, playful – but it's also distracting, visually dominant, and has fundamental legibility issues. It's technically impressive UI, whilst being abysmal UX.

imagine not hating on something this "beautiful"

Every single major iOS UI overhaul was “cancer” & “horrible” for 90% of users, yet they became the industry standard for design. Users are always resistant to change.

if this is wrong idc. it feels so right.

Maybe I am wrong but the best designs are invisible like they're natural, like they're always there. You never noticed because they are so smooth and not disturbing. Especially when design is for UI -not sales or any specific purpose but just for using. After glass design, I see glass everywhere. I see lights. I see colors. I see all that damn buttons and icons. I noticed every small details on my phone which is disturbing to me. I don't want to see them. I just want to use my phone without noticing anything. And it is not smooth anymore. There is lags and errors.

Tumors are not beautiful ❌

The perfect explanation of how Apple have been broken his pristine principle: function above form. Now is form above function with an insulting number of bugs that doesn't matter because "look at this chromatic aberration effect"... while the aberration is Liquid Glass itself.

This is a 3D animation that only very remotely resembles things in the UI... which Apple hasn't even shipped. So cut the crap huh?

Liquid Glass is the best thing that happened to iOS EVER!

As a designer, and someone living in Apple ecosystem for the past 15 years, liquid glass is form over function. Also inconsistent and unnecessarily bold/messy. Previous UI is perfection in simplicity and function.

That’s not a good argument because you’re defending this UI by only telling us how “bEaUtIfUl” it is with rigged demonstration clips that aren’t representative of the actual interface. You’re falling for Apple’s render trap

it's the ugliest shit, completely unnecessary

This is a video. Not real ui.

Be honest. This beautiful video has nothing to do with iOS26.

Nah, see-through and blur is an accessibility nightmare, Liquid Glass was a mistake

Big waste of system resources for worthless eye candy.

Imagine been so out of touch with your customer base to design this and have to undo it in a patch version. iOS users are so used to the same UI that they don’t want change. Besides Apple was all this smooth animation while now the UI is glitchy just like an Android !

Stand-alone, sure. Yet it feels intrusive in Tahoe. The system is less cohesive, fewer dovetails, more incongruous overlap. There was inadequate system-level design in 26. Glass is first a feature, not a top-level aesthetic.

I absolutely love liquid glass. It makes using my phone enjoyable. I love pulling down from the top and seeing everything warp underneath. I think it's bold and brave. Well done Apple, never stop.

Beautiful? Yeah you're high.

Its so distracting and annoying

The issue is that it takes so much unnecessary graphics performance to do all this and chews through your battery. Flat design might’ve been boring but it was very battery efficient.

Beautiful ornamentation belongs on dribble. Real user interfaces should be functional first. Liquid Ass is not

Yes, lag, bloat, and useless animations are definitely beautiful 🙄

Isn’t the whole point of the thread you are quoting that it’s beautiful but not functional??? They never claimed it wasn’t beautiful, they are only claiming it’s not very functional. How hard is that to understand 🤦♀️

When used every day, functionality is more important than appearance.

the thing is, that isnt what i hate, its the absolute shit from a butt that they actually released to the general public

Grafics are visual communications. Signs that do not have any intended communicative intent - what is this good for.

I hate it. I wish I could go back to ipad os 18.6

it's unusable
