'Kicked to the curb': Vaccine-injured Canadians to be heard at the Allison Inquiry 💉 A veteran who says he was ready to die for his country broke down describing how Ottawa abandoned him after his COVID shot, and MP Dean Allison says this is only the beginning. Day one of the Allison Inquiry is in the books, and if the first testimonies are any indication, Canadians are only beginning to understand the scale of the vaccine injury crisis this country has spent five years trying to ignore. The inquiry, led by Conservative MP Dean Allison, was created to do what Ottawa has refused to do since the rollout of the novel modified RNA COVID-19 injections: actually listen to the people who were hurt by them, and dig into why the federal Vaccine Injury Support Program has left so many of them behind. I sat down with Allison at the end of the day, and his message was that this isn't about politics, but permission. "We want to give people permission to tell their stories," Allison said. "If they can't tell their stories, then they can't get help. If they can't get help, they continue to feel terrible, they feel isolated." Special guest U.S. Senator Ron Johnson and Denis Rancourt — a physicist with a PhD in the field who spent 23 years as a professor and lead scientist at the University of Ottawa — set the tone for the day, laying out context that's old news to those of us who've covered this unfolding story for years. Two sitting MPs, Mike Dawson and Chris Lewis Essex, also shared their own experiences with vaccine injuries publicly, for what may have been the first time. But one testimony that stopped the room was a Canadian Forces veteran who said he was prepared to die for this country, then discarded by it the moment he was injured. "Imagine giving your life for your best friend, and in return, they turn their back on you," Allison said, visibly perturbed by what he heard. "That is so disturbing. What a travesty for people who were prepared to give their life to protect our country, only to be turned away and kicked to the curb." Allison didn't shy away from critics already dismissing the inquiry online as a "conspiracy round table." "Our own government admits people are injured. They have a program for it, and they keep numbers on it," he said. "Anyone who minimizes these individuals doesn't know what they're talking about. They're either arrogant, or ignorant, or maybe both. These people have real stories. There's been real harm done, and we owe it to them to at least hear what they have to say." Even Canada's state broadcaster showed up, albeit briefly. Allison said a CBC reporter approached him in the morning to ask what he expected out of the day, then vanished. No panel invite. No follow-up. "I haven't seen any fair coverage so far," Allison said. "What I'm expecting is that independent media in the room will be fair, because we actually talk to real people. Legacy media talks to people inside the bubble." It is deeply upsetting to watch people mock or dismiss individuals who say their lives were changed after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. Many of us did what we were told was the responsible thing. We went to work, went to school, trusted the system, and never imagined we could end up dealing with lasting health problems afterward. None of us asked to become disabled. None of us asked to lose our careers, independence, health, or quality of life. None of us wanted to spend years searching for answers. That is why the lack of mainstream attention surrounding testimony at the Allison Inquiry has been so frustrating. When people are publicly sharing deeply personal stories about illness, disability, medical treatment, and their experiences with the healthcare system, those stories deserve serious examination—not ridicule. You can support vaccination policy and still have compassion for someone who believes they were injured. You can disagree politically and still listen. Seeing some people on the political left laugh at or belittle people describing serious health struggles is especially difficult. Mocking a disabled person because their experience challenges your political beliefs is not compassion or progress. For many people, this is not an internet debate. It is their everyday life. We are not asking everyone to automatically agree with every claim. We are asking people to listen, investigate the evidence, report on the testimony, and treat those suffering with basic human dignity. Victims deserve answers. Victims deserve medical support. Hamas leadership has been living lavishly in Qatar while the people that they claim to represent in Gaza are suffering. They’ve been directing a war from the comfort of their five-star hotels for almost two years, refusing to release the 48 hostages that are still being held in Gaza. Today, Israeli officials announced that they took a targeted action against these Hamas leaders who have been terrorizing the region for years. This war in Gaza is brutal. It has to end. Palestinians are suffering, Israelis are suffering. The entire region is suffering. The people of Gaza, the Arab League, the US and Israel are all saying the same thing. Hamas must be removed from power. Inside Gaza, people are risking their lives to protest Hamas, and they’re being silenced, beaten, even killed on the streets. They know that Hamas is the reason Gaza is in ruin. They know that Hamas is the one who started the war, and Hamas is the reason that it hasn’t ended yet. And this has been Hamas’s plan all along, force Israel into a war it never wanted to fight, but has to win. Hamas spent years preparing the October 7th attack. They knew exactly what an urban war in a densely populated area would look like. They all went into hiding and left their people out to suffer. And these devastating consequences for the people of Gaza? That was a part of their strategy, to delegitimize Israel’s standing in the eyes of the world. They knew what they were doing, and Israel could not and still cannot allow these jihadists to live on its borders. No other nation would allow that. This is the linchpin of the entire conflict right now. Once Hamas is gone, the war ends, the suffering ends, and Gaza can finally rebuild. So today, Israel sent a message that there’s no safe place for terrorists anywhere on Earth, and we all need to stand together and say release the hostages, remove Hamas, end the war.

Until Russian fascists came to their home, who began to bomb and destroy their cities, their people, their country, their families. And they were forced to take up arms to protect the most valuable and important things in our lives. These days, sitting at the festive Christmas table, do not forget to pray and remember the heroes who are now far from home, far from their families, relatives, and children. Two young lives from Nandigram are beginning a journey toward healing, and I am glad that we could play a small role in making that possible. During our Sebaashray camp in Nandigram, we learned about two young girls, Suparna Jana and Arpita Dalui, both suffering from complex heart conditions. Their families had been carrying the weight of this struggle, living with the uncertainty that accompanies such serious medical challenges. The moment their situation came to our attention, arrangements were made to send them to AIIMS, New Delhi, where they can receive the specialised treatment they require. Within our limited capacity, we have ensured that every aspect of their treatment is being taken care of, because no child’s chance at life and health should ever be constrained by economic hardship. May they return home soon with renewed strength and bright smiles. In the end, the true measure of any society is how gently it cares for those who are most vulnerable.

Sad to say that there is no expenditure being made by the State Government of #Odisha for the people of this state and for their development. Time and again this has been brought to the attention of #Odisha Government by Biju Janata Dal that there must be some expenditure for the development of the people of the state, but they seem to be totally neglectful about this. Everyone is suffering. It's not exclusive to any people, it is everyone that is suffering. It's like they're playing on empty vessels, and we all know that empty vessels make a good sound, and that's what they're satisfied by. #BJDWithOdisha
