The Nigerian Army should have aquired more Hueys, equips them with door-mounted Miniguns or .50 caliber machine guns to provide high volume suppressive fire and close air support during battlefield operations. The Army could have had a fully functional tactical aviation corps by now, using the Hueys as a stopgap capability while awaiting the arrival and production of the Cayuse Warrior helicopters.

The Nigerian Army maintains a troop deployment in the Republic of Benin under Operation Atileyin Alafia II (OPAA II). The contingent is based at Togbin Camp in Cotonou and is commanded by Lieutenant Colonel A.A. Ikoro.
