So I think this section of 2100 South was made better in general, but the execution of the mixed-use trails on 2100 South and Highland could not have been worse. Video incoming.

Yes, it should’ve been like this the entire way

Well the city also did what it always does and pretended that wayfinding and signage aren’t important. Also execution on Highland was dogshit.

My favorite is the way finding onto 1300 E like ya maybe if you don’t value your life

It’s better, but should have been so much better still

Well yes, and it will be

Very much in favor of making the existing extra lanes on 21st bus/bike-only

Honestly not sure how to do that around the monument plaza pinch point without tearing everything up and starting again

Talking 2100 E-Central Pointe. Won’t work everywhere.

Gotcha. Thats what kills me if they had just stuck to a 4-lane config we could run bus-only super easy. Now with the “hybrid” … boy I don’t know

@devinzander I wish they would make it two lanes all the way up Parley's way to Walmart with a protected bike lane.

Profilbild von Bike Lake City
Bike Lake Cityvor 1 Monat

@devinzander Yeah that would have been ideal, the "3-Lane Concept" that the city briefly considered. But the neighborhood lost its mind and instead of just sticking with a consistent layout they mushed the worst of both worlds together and now we're kind of stuck

We were JUST talking about this at lunch today. It’s sooooo much better now

I agree they did a good job. I think people are just tired of the never-ending projects there. Still a lot more to come!

Yes, a few blocks are better. However much of Sugar House isn’t good for getting around for elderly, moms with children. Too much density now. Mom and pop businesses had to relocate or shut down. And not during winter.

Profilbild von Zander for SLC

Are you talking about on foot? Usually more density = better to get around on foot

Profilbild von Rick Magness

Yes to getting around on foot. Except for 5 months of the year when it snows, streets and sidewalks are icy. These are conditions not good for elderly or handicapped. Single moms running errands with kids use the car to get around. Nothing was done to allow vehicular traffic.

Doing an article on this in the next few weeks—2100 South is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than it was in so many ways.

I don't see very many pedestrians and cyclists about. That seems to be the general pattern. We imagine demand that does not materialize. Check out 300 West. Big project, no usage.

Except, those red cement street barriers are criminal. Absolutely criminal. For my tires and my eyes.

I’d prefer red bike paths personally

As I live in the neighborhood, I would install a turn lane on 800 E and 2100 to turn into the neighborhood N opposite of Original Pancake house. And I would have created a turn lane for Highland from 2100. Traffic has been less but businesses have closed.

Lots of new businesses too. Have you had the chicken parm at silverside yet?

Have you tried turning into chick-fil-a?

The opposite. Every time I drive 2100S I'm reminded how inadequate SLC government is. They took away a lane for (as your video shows) mostly unused empty sidewalk. Criminal levels of incompetence and money wasting.
