FACT CHECK: “Vote for us or we’ll put the detention centre near you” is not democratic consent. It is coercive electioneering. An unelected, paid-for politician is openly framing state power as a punishment tool against communities that vote the “wrong” way. That is not a serious policy platform. It is a threat. Detention centres are not poker chips. Communities are not hostages. And democracy is not supposed to work like a protection racket. This is authoritarian politics in a shiny suit: support us and you’re safe, oppose us and your area pays. Vile. Vindictive. And completely incompatible with any honest claim to democratic principle.
