Whether I keep idols or pictures of deities in my home is my personal choice. Whether I read the Bhagavad Gita or the Bible is my decision. Whether I choose to change my religion is entirely my constitutional right. The Constitution of India guarantees every citizen the freedom of conscience and the freedom to profess, practice, and propagate religion. Yet, the BJP’s saffron brigade is increasingly taking it upon itself to dictate these deeply personal choices, subjecting people to religious intimidation and coercion. If this is what the BJP calls its vision for Bengal, it is a culture built not on freedom, but on fear and interference in citizens’ personal liberties. Place : Bahrampur, Murshidabad BJP West Bengal
