In 1951, Adelbert Ames created the mind-boggling ‘Ames Window’. It’s so effective that even when you know how it works you can’t break the illusion [📹 The Curiosity Show]

One of, if not my favourite show as a kid.

I don't get it?

My head hurts

Okay when he switched it where it was bigger my way and then it was bigger his way? I saw the smaller end my way. But I could not see that damn thing turning in a circle

I feel that the magnitude of this effect is still underestimated and psychologically not fully understood - it may be even connected to what we call self awareness

More music overlaid to on a video, just to make sure you don't watch more than a few seconds.

Witchcraft. Burn him.

On the back, on a green background, is the Microsoft Windows logo.😀

It's the music. Without the creepy music it's perfectly fine. Try it on mute.

Looks like some 4D object... makes me wonder, can our minds really fathom 4D without going crazy? Could 4D object be occurring in nature but our brains filter them out due to their complexity? 🤔😳

When he showed the bit with the pen, I mouth was wide open and I had a massive grin on my face the entire time! :D

He invented the modern they Windows logo he should get paid for that

This made me sick lol

How are you managing for food. Bread butter milk etc

.

Made my day ,Rainmaker.

This Ames window is bizarre

Looking closely at the shadow of the pen helps the mind understand better what’s happening visually

😵‍💫

Wow. That's awesome

This has always been my favorite illusion.

That's extremely annoying. I can't make my brain stop seeing the illusion.

Many truths need different perspectives and comprehensive examination in order to be properly understood. This is why one always need to be careful with first impressions. The same is true when dealing with the five senses.
