In 1983, Brian Clough had a crack at presenting for Granada television, hosting a tribute programme for Bob Paisley just after the Liverpool manager’s retirement. No media training needed here. This was Clough in his prime, and he did it his way.

There’ll never be another like Mr Clough, he was a one off, unique and a genius.

Met Brian at the old baseball ground in the away end when Spurs played, think he was with his grandson. I asked him to sign my mates programme for him. He looked at me in the eyes for about 5 seconds and said ‘ yes I will sign young man as you were polite when you asked me’😀
