He did stay for the “long haul” of a full decade. He produced the best decade of Iowa State football in a long time. The AD isn’t upset. Iowa State fans acting like Campbell needed to stay forever are being unreasonable. He’s leaving ISU way better off than when he got there.

10+ years is a long haul and he DID help build up the program. If he wants to try something new who are we to say no

Anyone clamoring that he isn't loyal, which is what this click bait post alludes to, is out of touch. He spent 10 years building a program. To think that loyalty requires a longer commitment is a bit absurd in the landscape of college sports today.

It is 2025. He's stayed ten years. That is more loyal than one is going to get. Be happy you had him as long as you did and grateful for what he did for the football program there.

Matt Campbell was remarkably loyal. Great run at Ames. Hope he’s successful at Penn State.

He's doing what's best for his family and that's the only thing that nephew was recruited by him and played at Iowa State. Every promise he made to the family was kept. He graduated debt free , traveled all over the country and met his current wife there.

Guy they are replacing him with stayed 1 year at wsu after proclaiming loyalty as his defining characteristic coming in😂. Fans are being played every which way but cant stop with their addiction.

He stayed through signing day and didn't poach the program's freshman class, and Iowa State found a new coach in no time. Of all the programs affected by this cycle Iowa State seems like its set up pretty nicely
