This gave me such a pain in my chest watching when first released… It is so painful as a mother to watch who could’ve easily been my child. Why must officers react with such aggression when the subject wasn’t? This young man shouldn’t have died at the hands who are to protect.

R.I.P. “Theo Huxtable.” 😢❤️😢 When I was a kid, Theo Huxtable was the only person on TV who looked like I did — who also lived like I did. He was a black teenager with married, black, professional parents in the home. In the 1980s, it was shocking to see any black person on TV who wasn’t a butler, a maid, a slave, a drug dealer or a buffoon. The Huxtables changed all of that — bringing black excellence and dignity to the mainstream. It was so arresting, so revolutionary, that 30 million Americans tuned in to watch every week. Malcolm played Theo perfectly— and he carried the most important aspects of the character forward into his later roles — and his real life. He was always relatable, and he used his platform in a positive way. Theo the character and Malcolm the man will long be missed.
