Border Patrol in El Paso, Texas is combatting illegal crossings underground through the city's extensive storm drain system. El Paso has over 100 access points to its storm drain system, according to interim Border Patrol Chief for the El Paso Sector Walter Slosar. “We defend those accesses hard,” Slosar tells The Daily Signal. El Paso is a desert and thunderstorms during the summer monsoon season can quickly lead to flash floods. The drains are large to handle the monsoons, some are even tall enough to stand in. Criminal organization take advantage of the drain system to cross the border illegally form Mexico and then exit through manhole covers in the streets. “We're going to deny access: subterranean, on the ground, and in the air,” Slosar pledged. “That's where we're moving. That's the evolution of technology.”

HERE’S THE REAL STORY: During the October 25 operation, Border Patrol agents were surrounded and boxed in by a group of agitators. Federal law enforcement issued multiple lawful commands and verbal warnings, all of which were ignored. While trying to safely clear the area, a grey sedan sped down the road and boxed in Border Patrol. Border Patrol gave repeated warnings to the driver to back his car up which he refused. After spewing profanities at law enforcement, he proceeded to charge out of his car toward law enforcement and resisted arrest. During the arrest another US citizen assaulted the arresting agent, striking him in the head. Both were arrested. The operation resulted in the arrest of a criminal illegal alien from Mexico who has previously been arrested for assault. Secretary Noem’s message to the rioters is clear: you will not stop us or slow us down. DHS and our federal law enforcement partners will continue to enforce the law.

In the eastern coast on July 20, AMO and Border Patrol agents apprehended 10 aliens from the Dominican Republic, India, and Ecuador, along with a U.S. citizen following a smuggling attempt from St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, to Culebrita Island. The migrants, smuggled in violation of U.S. immigration laws, and the vessel operator were arrested and transferred to Border Patrol for further processing and removal. Border Patrol calls it “a city underneath our city.” In El Paso, criminal organizations south of the border exploit a massive network of storm drains tunnels originally built for flood control. As of now there are 32 known entry points from the Rio Grande that connect to hundreds of exits scattered through neighborhoods, parks, schools, and commercial areas. Smugglers dig short tunnels or cut into existing pipes, then guide groups. Storm drainage on the US side must be watched, maybe flock cameras could be of better use there? These individuals find the routes from the American side, meaning a a few miles north of the southern border you see what you think to be punk skaters or little thugs walking around those water drainage reservoirs but they’re actually coyotes working your neighborhood. They make their way in and they follow their Google maps back south. This fiscal year alone, 161 illegal aliens were apprehended using the water drainage system. In Laredo, Texas smugglers use actual sewer lines feeding off the river. This isn’t random, it is very well organized, deliberate excavation by transnational criminal organizations adapting to surface enforcement.
