And it is important for all of us to remember the price at which our freedom is won. To honor all those who fought and continue to fight for Ukraine. And to be grateful to everyone who contributes to keeping Ukraine free. Today, together, we honored the memory of our fallen heroes at the Wall of Remembrance in Kyiv. Eternal gratitude to all who defended and continue to defend our country. Eternal memory to our defenders who gave their lives defending Ukraine.

It is also the beginning of a new chapter in our history and one that will determine the destiny of both our generation and those to come, as well as our shared hopes for the future. To all of you who are committed to securing lasting peace, stability, and comprehensive prosperity for our country, and who care deeply about Ethiopia’s greatness: the opportunity is here, and the time is now. Just as our forefathers and foremothers fought at the Battle of Adwa with their blood and their lives for the freedom, sovereignty, and honor of our nation, today Ethiopia once again calls upon her sons and daughters who are ready to shoulder the responsibility entrusted to them by history. I made it a point to be at Hope Gardens last night for the second day of the Lost in Time Festival. I have a great deal of respect for the artistes on this lineup, and I particularly admire Chronixx, so it was important for me to be there to support the return of such a significant cultural event. While the energy was incredible, we must also address the practical challenges of hosting major festivals. As it stands, there is an understandable ambivalence from those living in the surrounding areas; for many residents, these events can feel like an intrusion on their privacy and their peace. This is a balance we have to get right. The solution lies in creating dedicated, world-class entertainment facilities. We need spaces specifically designed to host not just shows, but large-scale festivals that celebrate our culture without disrupting the lives of our citizens.
