That’s because it was standard for speakers to be faced towards the stage back then. Rarely anybody used ear pieces, not even MJ.

Also speakers being face towards the stage has nothing to do with this. There are artist who use ear pieces , with speakers towards the stage , and STILL sound a hot mess

Every time I see one of her performances I get so upset lol. She had so much more left to give and so much talent.

Exactly that was surely some of her best work. That performance will forever stay with me. Definitely in the top 5 bio performances for me!!!
