He was not interested in collaborating with Black creatives who had surrendered ownership of their intellectual property, not out of arrogance, but out of principle. He understood something that too many people were never taught, control of your work is control of your future. Prince made it clear that he would not allow the fruits of his imagination, his discipline, and his brilliance to be used to bankroll other people’s bloodlines while the originator was left negotiating crumbs. 💜😮‍💨
