At the Emmys, a few spoke up: Javier Bardem wore a keffiyeh, Hannah Einbinder shouted “Free Palestine”, and Meg Stalter carried a ceasefire bag. But it’s not enough.Over 4,000 artists including Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, and Joaquin Phoenix have pledged to boycott Israeli institutions complicit in genocide. We need more. If you have a platform, use it. Speak out. Refuse complicity. Silence enables genocide. Free Palestine.

"Go birds, fuck ICE and free Palestine." Hannah Einbinder turned her Emmy win for best supporting actress in a comedy into a platform for activism, wearing a red Artists4Ceasefire pin and joining fellow actors on the red carpet calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. In a follow-up interview, Einbinder said the cause was deeply personal, citing friends working as doctors and teachers in Gaza. She added that as a Jewish person she feels a responsibility to distinguish Judaism from the state of Israel, and voiced support for the Film Workers for Palestine boycott, saying it “does not boycott individuals, it only boycotts institutions that are directly complicit in the genocide.”

Oscar-winning actor Susan Sarandon and “Hacks” star Hannah Einbinder were among protesters detained by NYPD officers during a Jewish Voice for Peace demonstration in New York opposing Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the UN General Assembly. Protesters held signs reading “Stop Arming Israel” and “End the Genocide” as Netanyahu prepared to address the UN. Both Sarandon and Einbinder have repeatedly spoken out for Palestinian rights despite facing professional backlash in Hollywood. Einbinder has said the cost of remaining silent on Palestine is greater than the cost to her career, while Sarandon has previously spoken publicly about losing work over her views on Israel and Gaza.

Hannah Einbinder on saying "Free Palestine" in her Emmys acceptance speech. "It is my obligation as a Jewish person to distinguish Jews from the state of Israel. "The international consensus changing and it is no longer with Zionism. It is with Palestine.” Speaking in Mexico City 🇲🇽, Angela Davis spoke about positive feelings changing from Zionism to Free Palestine. That is the truth, if you accept the outlandish, distorted definition of Zionism that non-Jews tout. I'll also point out that this "change in consensus" she is so gleeful about was brought about after the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust and a devastating war in Gaza. I suppose it was a small price to pay in her mind. Anything to feel morally superior to others and nothing to actually strive for peace.
