OREGON🚨 ODOT knew by August that the I-5 bridge project had ballooned from roughly $6B to $13.6B. In September, while legislators were voting on transportation policy, ODOT staff claimed ON THE RECORD that no updated estimates existed. That was false. Not only that, this information was withheld while Oregonians were actively gathering signatures and executing the transportation tax referendum. Voters were making decisions without knowing the bridge cost had more than doubled. Taxpayers were asked to back tax increases without the truth. This follows ODOT’s prior $1B accounting error. What else is being hidden?

Reporter: “So tax increases are still on the table?” Tina Kotek: “I will be looking to those experts to really clarify what it is that we need to have as a state and give us options on how to pay for it…” Translation?
