In Florida, our higher education institutions will not be spending public dollars on “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” or other initiatives that promote an ideological agenda. As practiced, DEI represents discrimination, exclusion and indoctrination — and this has no place in a public institution.

DEI stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. It teaches to treat everyone fairly and not to discriminate against anyone. It also would have helped your grandparents when they immigrated here from Italy because they faced discrimination.

Ron DeSantis (R) signed a bill into law Monday barring the state’s colleges and universities from spending money on diversity, equity and inclusion programs, and limiting how race can be discussed in many courses. “If you look at the way this has actually been implemented across the country, DEI is better viewed as standing for discrimination, exclusion and indoctrination,” DeSantis said at a news conference at New College of Florida in Sarasota. “And that has no place in our public institutions. This bill says the whole experiment with DEI is coming to an end in the state of Florida.”

Next, let's talk about Cleveland Clinic's openly discriminatory approach to "care" and how they inject DEI into "everything" that they do. In 2024, they were sued by a law group for prioritizing certain patients over others based on skin color. The lawsuit alleged they knowingly and willingly violated federal anti-discrimination laws in the process of doing so. They declare racism to be a “public health crisis” and established an Executive Diversity, Inclusion And Racial Equity Council “to examine and promote policies to eliminate racism, bias, and health disparities.” They've also engaged in deliberate race-based hiring discrimination by specifically committing to “train, hire and promote one million Black Americans into family-sustaining jobs with opportunities for advancement” without offering a similar opportunity for job-seekers of other backgrounds. In 2023, Jacqueline A. Robertson, Chief of Diversity and Inclusion at Cleveland Clinic, stated, "I don't believe that diversity and inclusion should ever be a standalone strategy. It has to be embedded in everything that we do. And so that's our processes, that's our metrics.”

Summer Lee just gave an excellent rundown: • "This hearing is trying to legitimize a dangerous idea of what equitable and inclusive education looks like." • "Equity policies are necessary to reverse harm caused by systemic discrimination, discrimination that was enacted by policies passed in this room." • "Equity policies are only a threat if your ideals are grounded in white supremacy." • "Hearings like this are trying to make an example of districts that want all kids, irrespective, not because of their race, gender, socio- socioeconomic status, disability status, language, immigration status..." • "One in four high school students identify as LGBTQI+.
