I love that Netizens are helping to share info on our new Persons With Disabilities Act, 2025 😍 a few more of its provisions for you to jot down: Schools and learning institutions are now required to provide inclusive education, accessible learning materials, and reasonable accommodations for learners with disabilities. Housing developers are required to include disability-friendly features in new residential and commercial buildings. Media houses must provide sign language interpretation, closed captioning, or audio description to make broadcasts accessible. Voting and civic participation are now more inclusive, with electoral bodies mandated to provide assistive devices and accessible polling stations. Courts must now provide sign language interpreters, Braille materials, and physical access to ensure access to justice for persons with disabilities. Inclusion in Kenya is no longer an option. #VIP

My Canadian House of Commons motion on disability inclusive education comes to a final vote this Wednesday. Please watch my five-minute speech to close out the debate. If my words resonate with you, please share the post, along with your comments. On the outcomes of getting inclusive education right, here's just some of what I had to say: "These potential outcomes are not limited to vast improvements in the lives of people with disabilities. Because as we work to build and support systems, domestically and internationally, that reach the most vulnerable people in the world, we will reach everyone else along the way. When we wire our hearts to include girls with disabilities, including intellectual and developmental disabilities, in education systems in the most challenging contexts of the world, we will reach every girl in the world. When we wire our hearts to include boys with disabilities, including intellectual and developmental disabilities, in education systems in refugee camps and war zones, we will better reach all kids in refugee camps and war zones and, of course, every less challenging environment in the world. Most importantly, when we include people with disabilities in all aspects of our societies - when we work to mitigate the challenges they face, and unlock the skills and abilities that they have, just like we do with everyone else, our societies will benefit from an immense potential, previously unrecognized."

We have seen a complete shift in how people view education. 10 years ago, there was a stigma around homeschool, now the stigma is around public school and people have realized that public school socialization and education are both outright disasters.

Public service appointments and promotions are guided by merit, competence, qualifications and fair competition, while upholding values of equity, inclusiveness, transparency and non‑discrimination.
