A few days shy of a year after it was put up, the SpaceX sign at the old entrance to the Suborbital Pad at Starbase has been taken down, as work at the Orbital Pad B complex expands. Time will tell where the new home of this sign will be. NSF - NASASpaceflight.com

Earlier this morning, A Starship chopstick segment went for a leisurely Sunday stroll of the Kennedy Space Center as it made its way from SpaceX's Roberts Road facility to Space Launch Complex 37, where the first segment is awaiting after its own roll 4 days ago, all as part of the work on the 4th launch tower. Ship 40 has performed its first Static Fire test in preparation for the lucky Flight 13. This appears to have been a single engine test, but came after a hold of nearly 20 minutes. Assuming they were intentionally allowing the propellant to warm up. This may have been the first realistic simulation of an in-space relight burn that SpaceX has ever conducted during ground testing. 🎥: Avid Space

Why are many in the space community calling SpaceX Starship Flight 11 the Flight of many “Lasts”? That’s because it is true and represents a major transition from the more Wild Wild West of prototype development to a more operational, maturing space launch and spacecraft system. After Flight 11, much of the original orbital launch site systems, from the launch mount, to the water deluge & supporting systems are about to be replaced by a brand-new & much more reliable, survivable & rapidly reusable system. These changes will even make the iconic imagery we are familiar with just historical memories. The California Coastal Commission has already made up its mind that it would deny SpaceX a coastal development permit (CDP) if SpaceX applies for one – It is a foregone conclusion. The problem for the Commission is that the US Space Force has already agreed to ALL of the Commission's demands regarding environmental safeguards and monitoring at Vandenberg for the increased number of SpaceX launches. Now, the Commission realizes that if it votes in favor of the consistency certification of the US Space Force, it would be impossible to then find a plausible environmental reason to deny SpaceX a CDP that's based on the exact same parameters as the US Space Force's consistency certification. This is an overt act of political bias by the Commission against Elon Musk and SpaceX. This is why SpaceX has filed a federal lawsuit against the Commission to seek an order that would bar the Commission from regulating its rocket launch program at Vandenberg. This is important because the Commission will try to force SpaceX to apply for a CDP via enforcement action – An application for a CDP that the Commission has no intention whatsoever of granting.

#SpaceX is preparing to move the massive new #Starship launch mount structure for #Starbase Pad B to the launch site for installation. In this post, I’ll give an overview of the design and use my 3D models to calculate the structure’s mass in its current configuration. This new launch mount, nearly an entire redesign, is SpaceX’s best effort at correcting many of the issues discovered with the mount at Pad A after a handful of launches. The only similarity between this mount and the original launch mount for Pad A is that 20 arms will still be used to support the #SuperHeavy booster before liftoff. However, the arms and everything else making up the structure are entirely different.
