During an Israeli military operation last week the water and sewage network in Nur Shams camp in the #WestBank were destroyed. UNRWA sanitation workers have stepped up to fix these systems, which are vital for the wellbeing of the 14,000 Palestine Refugees who live in the camp. As always, #UNRWAworks to fulfil the mandate given to us by the UN General Assembly - the international community - whatever the challenges. Our office in the camp was also bulldozed. The building, which was the hub of our work there, is now unusable and will have to be demolished. In Nur Shams and across the region, our services encompass learning for children, health, sanitation, and social protection. We will continue to deliver on our mandate.

Indian Army Undertakes Swift Rescue Operations in Jammu Sector Indian Army has launched extensive Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations in flood-affected areas of Jammu region, deploying multiple rescue columns and helicopters to evacuate stranded civilians, students, and security personnel. *Jammu Sector Operations* As on 26 August evening, four rescue columns were deployed at different locations in Jammu: •Garhi Garh, RS Pura Sector: Seven civilians, including one child, were rescued. These are the faces of successful conservation work. African wild dogs are critically endangered — fewer than 7,000 remain across all of Africa — and as part of our field work, we closely monitor local populations. Our pilot and SWT/KWS Anti-Poaching Team spotted this pack during an aerial patrol last week. The team landed and went to have a closer look — as you can see, the dogs were keen to investigate us, too! Besides a few pesky burrs, this pack is thriving and in peak health. This afternoon I spent some time over at Parkesdale Farms in Dover to discuss the impacts of the recent cold snap on our farming community. Food security is national security. As a state, we have a duty look out for those who do the work to put food on the table and assist them in hardening their crops for when disaster strikes. I’m grateful to the Parke family for showing me around today and for all of our farmers who are putting in long hours to combat this recent weather and protect our food supply.

MacArthur Park Update #5 Last night, DEALosAngeles and LAPD HQ conducted a joint narcotics operation in the MacArthur Park area and it sent a clear message: drug dealers are not welcome in our communities. Six individuals were arrested on suspicion of narcotics sales. Federal and state laws were enforced. This is part of a sustained, coordinated effort to dismantle the open-air drug markets that have plagued Los Angeles for too long. I want to commend our federal agents and the men and women of LAPD for their professionalism and dedication. The people of Los Angeles deserve safe parks, safe streets, and safe neighborhoods. We are delivering on that promise. Law and order is being restored in Los Angeles.

Today, I hosted the first meeting of a special panel on child safety online. For decades, we have made the real world safer for children and we must do the same in the digital world. The positive opportunities that technology offers cannot come at the cost of their safety, health or happiness. In Europe, tech platforms already have a responsibility to ensure the safety of users. But we must also do more to protect and empower our young people online. This is the aim of the special panel. We will work intensely with experts and stakeholders, including our youth, to forge a strong and realistic European approach to keep our children safe in the digital age. By the summer, the special panel will publish its recommendations for further action.

The wife of a fisherman who went missing at sea wrote a devastating plea to her community in hopes of finding him. Deborah Billmaier's husband, Brandon, 33, and his uncle, Randall Spivey, 57, left for a bottom fishing trip from Fort Myers, Florida, on Friday morning. Billmaier expected her husband home by late afternoon the same day. But their empty boat has been recovered, and they are still nowhere to be found. The current blockages are purely political, and I am grateful to Germany for its support. The opening of clusters will certainly add momentum to progress across all areas of European integration and reforms. This should be the driving force for further joint work and coordination. A united Europe clearly has enough strength for this. I also shared the results of my visit to the Middle East and the system for protecting lives that Ukraine has offered to the countries of the region. We are ready to develop this kind of cooperation together with our partners in Europe who have stood with us from the very beginning.

Together with the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska / Олена Зеленська and our team, we have arrived in New York to take part in the UN General Assembly, the first leaders’ summit of our Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, and the annual Crimea Platform Summit, which in 2025, for the first time, will be held on a global stage – underlining the global nature of the changes brought about by this war, the war that Russia began in Crimea. We remember the roots of Russian aggression. We are doing everything to stop the war. We are working to guarantee long-term security for all Ukrainian children. Support from partners is essential. And such new support will undoubtedly be the outcome of this diplomatic week. Nearly two dozen meetings are scheduled. Ahead of us are several very intense days. Ukraine must become stronger. I thank everyone who is helping.
