In connection with this case, the Madikeri Rural Police have arrested a youth named Mohammad Sawad from #Napoklu village in... the #Madikeri taluk. It has been learned that the arrested accused, Mohammad Sawad, was a BBA student at Yenepoya College in #Sampigehalli, #Bengaluru. The accused is said to have engaged in sexual activities with various young women and recorded the private moments on his own mobile phone. These videos later circulated on social media, causing outrage across the district. The viral videos have created a sensation throughout the district. Following this, Prasanna Bhat, President of the Kodagu Development Committee, filed a complaint with the Madikeri Rural Police Station, based on which the police registered a case and began an investigation. Preliminary investigations suggest that Saud’s friends may have circulated the videos. Meanwhile, videos of some young men being attacked in connection with the case have also gone viral on social media. Although there are suspicions that the attacks may have been carried out by Sawad’s associates, the police have stated that the victims have not yet filed any official complaints. Tension prevailed in front of the Sakleshpur Rural Police Station in Sakleshpur of Hassan district on Friday, as two groups engaged in a fist fight. The residents of Marabylu village in Mudigere taluk of Chikkamagaluru district and photographers from Hassan had a heated argument on the police station premises with regard to an assault during the pre-wedding shoot at Bettada Byraveshwara Temple in Maragunda near Sakleshpur. The arguments led to a clash forcing the police to intervene. They brought the situation under control and dispersed the mob. The video clips of the clash have gone viral on social media platforms. Earlier in the day, during the pre-wedding shoot at the temple, the photographers and a few people from Maragunda had an argument over a petty issue. The team of photographers was allegedly assaulted by local residents. The photographers reached the police station to file a complaint. They were supported by photographers from Sakleshpur and other places in the district. Meanwhile, many people from Maragunda also gathered in front of the police station. They picked an argument with the photographers again that led to the clash. The police have booked seven persons based on a complaint filed by the photographers.

The incident is said to have occurred on 02 April 2026, at the Volksrust Police Station. It is worth noting that in light of the serious allegation, the SAPS has instituted an internal investigation to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the incident. In addition to the internal investigation, a criminal investigation is also underway to ensure all aspects of this matter are addressed transparently. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has been notified of the incident and it is expected that a parallel investigation will be conducted by this Directorate.

The #MeghalayaPolice have registered a case against a man for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of people by trespassing inside a church and shouting ‘#JaiShriRam’ at its altar in #Meghalaya's #EastKhasiHills district. The man had entered the #Mawlynnong village Church on Thursday and shouted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and posted it on social media, the officer said. East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nongtynger told to media, “We have registered a case at #Pynursla police station against a person named #AkashSagar on Instagram after a complaint was lodged in this regard." He said an investigation is on and efforts are on to nab the culprit. Social activist #AngelaRangad filed a police complaint on Thursday seeking legal action against the person. “Sagar deliberately and in a premeditated and planned way trespassed into the altar area and shouted non-Christian songs. This act was deliberately done to create communal disharmony, insulting the minority culture in violation of all constitutional rights of religious freedom," she said. The Central Puja Committee, an influential #Hindu organisation in the state, has condemned the act. “We noted with anguish to see a video circulated on social media outraging and violating the religious sentiments of everyone in this peace-loving state. We condemn the activity of this individual and urge the police to take stringent and exemplary action as per law against this individual," CPC president Naba Bhattacharjee said.

Three men have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a 35-year-old woman in #Karnataka’s #Hubballi on Friday night and circulating videos of the sexual assault on social media. Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar identified the men as Shivanand, 29, Ganesh, 31, and Pradeep, 28—all residents of Hubballi. According to a police officer, the accused picked up the woman from the #Heggeri area, took her to an isolated location in an autorickshaw, sexually assaulted her, and forced her to drink alcohol around 11.30 pm. They shot videos and photographs of the assault, later sharing them on social media platforms. Local residents who learnt about the incident from the videos allegedly assaulted the accused, shaved their heads, and handed them over to the police. Shashi Kumar told the media on Sunday that the woman had arrived in Hubballi approximately one and a half months ago after her husband had been jailed in a domestic violence case. She had been homeless since, spending nights outside temples and on streets, surviving on food provided at the #SiddharoodhaMutt and other religious places. “The accused watched the woman roaming in the area and lured her offering money and food. Then they took her to an isolated place to gang-rape her. They also recorded videos and shared them on social media,” Shashi Kumar said. Shashi Kumar said that Shivanand and Ganesh were booked for the gang rape, while Pradeep has been accused of circulating the video on social media. While the locals assaulted Ganesh and Shivanand, a case was registered against the locals on Shivanand’s complaint. Four of the locals have been taken into custody. Shashi Kumar said he would hold discussions with the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal corporation commissioner and officials of the women and child welfare department to explore measures to provide the woman with shelter and support her. A police officer said the woman hails from #Shivamogga district and that she had filed a domestic violence case against her husband a few months ago. [MEYERTON POLICE SERGEANT ALLEGEDLY INVOLVED IN STOCK THEFT] In response to a video circulating on social media about a police sergeant from Meyerton Police Station, being accused of stock theft. The SA Police Service 🇿🇦 Management of the Sedibeng District instructed a senior detective to register an enquiry into these serious allegations and to conduct an investigation. The investigating officer is appealing to the people who made the allegations to go to any police station in Gauteng and to register a case of stock theft for investigation. The investigator is for now busy with the enquiry and while investigations are underway, the police need the complainant’s statement to conclude a preliminary report and to register a criminal case.
