On June 24, 1947, Kenneth Arnold reported seeing nine bright objects flying in formation while flying near Mount Rainier. He was describing their motion, saying they moved "like a saucer skipping across water." He described the objects as thin and flat, crescent-shaped or half-moon-shaped. This is Alaca Höyük’s Sphinx Gate, one of the most striking Hittite monuments in Türkiye. Ancient walls did not only keep enemies out. Sometimes they told visitors exactly who ruled the world inside.
