In my first week as Shadow Chancellor, we Conservatives have put forward a fully costed plan to increase defence spending to 3%. John Healey resigned because he said that’s what we need. Now he can act, but isn't. Only Conservatives are serious about protecting our country.

“Costed” means you know how much something costs Its not the same as “Funded” which answers how you might actually pay for it…. Stop conflating the two words

Are we meant to just forget the last 14 years when you decimated the armed forces then?

We know your plan, attack the most vulnerable in society because they don't matter and don't vote for you.

"Only Conservatives are serious about protecting our country" Then why was the nation's military run down to a shadow of its former self during the 14 years of Tory rule? Yes, Labour is worse but you lot have nothing to be proud of & cannot be trusted

The Tories are The Ableism Party. They want to take benefits away from Disabled People that really need it and put into weapons instead. This proves that they have not changed since they lost the last general election back in 2024.

That's the same conservatives that cut defense spending.

The Conservatives could’ve done that at any point between 2010 and 2024. You chose not to. It’s always “jam tomorrow” with you. The Conservatives: wise after the event since 1834.

I would like Kemi to ask at PMQT why Labour are giving away the Chagos Islands & why is the UK paying for this scandal at the expense of the Armed Forces. Everyone I speak to is raging about this.

Remember when the @Conservatives put forward a fully costed plan to reduce immigration to the tens of thousands? The Tories might as well print off their fully costed plans and wipe their lying Tory arses with it.

In other words, the Tories will fund a war on the backs of the vulnerable because they can’t fight back.

"Only Conservatives are serious about protecting our country" You literally raised taxes on citizens to fund your mass immigration policies. Explain how that protects OUR Country.

Utter claptrap. Strategic Defence Review 2010 Covid Started the whole mess with the Chagos Islands & Mauritius. Should be like a ball & chain to the supposed Conservative & Unionist Party.

You weren`t fucking serious about protecting our country or the people for the 14 years the Tories were in power. It is amazing what you are promising if you won an election. No one believes a word you say

If you were serious about protecting the country, why did you reduce the size of the Royal Navy in 2010 and 2015?

The Conservatives started the real destruction of the UK. After what Blair did, shameful! YOU bled our defence dry. YOU implemented DEI. YOU started giving Chagos away. YOU taxed us to the hilt, YOU opened the doors to millions of illegals to get all British rights any time soon

Andrew, please don’t treat the electorate like idiots - that’s a big mistake. I’m an ex lifelong Tory voter, but everyone knows the scale of managed decline on Defence, permitted under your party If you want my vote, please show some humility @KemiBadenoch @joymorrissey

Why can’t politicians just answer simple questions about their job? Sophy Ridge asked Defence Secretary Wes Streeting a straightforward question he should have been ready for. You’d expect the person in charge of defence to have a clear position on the spending target for his own department, yet he repeatedly dodged it. She asked if he agreed with his predecessor John Healey, who said he was certain Britain should reach 3% of GDP on defence by 2030: “Are you also certain about 3% of GDP by 2030? Is that a target?” Streeting: “I endorsed John Healey’s resignation letter wholeheartedly at the time. What you will see from Andy Burnham and John Healey as prime minister and chancellor is a commitment to make sure the defence investment plan is fully funded.” That’s not an answer. Sophy cut in: “I’m going to have to come in again. You are the Defence Secretary, do you believe in the target of spending 3% of GDP on defence by 2030?” He again referred back to agreeing with Healey and then talked at length about setting out “what we will fund and how we will fund it.” Still no direct answer. Clearly frustrated, Sophy tried once more: “I’m not asking you to set out how you’re going to fund it. I’m asking, do you believe in the target that we should be spending 3% by 2030?” His reply? He wouldn’t answer because the next question would be about how to fund it. That is a ridiculous reason to refuse a basic question about your own brief. Just answer it. Absolutely pathetic.
