As a Cypriot I thank you for your testimony @SinanCiddi and the valuable points raised. I disagree, however, with your point that the problem that is Turkey is only because of @RTErdogan and the Islamists. The Kemalists are no different. Since its inception in 1923, Turkey has always been an authoritarian state, dominated for decades by a form of authoritarian secularism and military-dominated tutelage. Since its inception in 1923, Turkey has been using religion to persecute, indoctrinate and polarize, its "attitude" also ultranationalistic. It was the Kemalists that led and showed the way, not the Islamists, that with cruel intensity adhered to this practice of persecution, discrimination, jingoism, and genocide. It was the Kemalists that invaded Cyprus and occupied part of it since 1974. And it is them the Kemalists that accuse Islamofascist Erdogan of being too soft on Cyprus. Erdogan's misanthropic practices, in essence a continuation of Kemalist ones, and Turkey’s further "Islamization of the hijab", are no to the “educated” surprise. They are in so many ways a "natural evolution" of the Kemalist ones. The West, NATO, and especially the US, granted a letter of indulgence to Turkey, a free in essence pass to backstab and ridicule them. A privilege, that backfired as you must be aware of Sinan Ciddi on them on several occasions. It was the West and especially the US that zealously promoted that Turkey is a secular state, which it never was. As it was the West and the US that kept on appeasing Turkey despite the S-400s story, its enhanced relationship with Russia, China and Iran, and its support of terrorist organizations such are Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood, and ISIS - somehow and wishfully hoping, that Turkey will remain loyal to the West. The fact is, that Turkey has "never been loyal" to the West. Closing and with utmost respect to you Sinan Ciddi, Islamist Erdogan (and his followers), and the Kemalists that the West seems to be so much fond of, have no in essence different an agenda. The Kemalists are the lamb's skin in which barbarism masquerades.
