In Ocean’s Eleven (2001), Steven Soderbergh didn’t give the actors a specific order to leave in the final fountain scene, only instructing that Carl Reiner be the last, then used multiple cameras to capture the natural, improvised departures.

Steven Soderbergh is the biggest reason the original Ocean’s trilogy worked so incredibly well. And he can’t be replaced. It’s easy to be seduced by the cast of these films- like Clooney, Pitt & Damon. Don’t get me wrong, they’re all excellent, but these films are Soderbergh’s vision. All of which is to say that while you might be able to replace the big name actors in these films (emphasis on “might”), no one- especially Bradley Cooper - is capable of walking in Soderbergh’s shoes. Give me Soderbergh or give me nothing.

According to Edgar Wright, each script sent to the main actors that were wanted for their respective roles included an iPod that contained a list of songs that were to be played (arranged in specific order) while reading a particular scene for the movie in order to emphasize the tone.
