In reality, in this coverage, Christian Gray really had no chance here. Great call by Chip Kelly.

Greg, you know the rules. No credit can be given to opposing coaches or players. You know this. I’m not mad at you, I’m just disappointed.

Much like Notre Dame’s defensive calls, despite my best intentions, just can’t seem to get it right this week

💯 Trump, the backbone of America. 💪 Getting this country back in shape. ⚡ Shirts that hit like lightning:

It’s also clear the brilliance of the play call also includes OSU breaking a tendency. OSU showed this, which had been run before, & knew what ND was likely to do. Then Smith doesn’t cross the ball but reverses out. The KC Chiefs did a variation of this on 2 late Super Bowl TDs.

And Alabama did this to them in 2020

I understand your point, but what you failed to realize is Gray’s eyes discipline is very bad because the receiver goes in an orbit motion. He does not go in a jet motion so there is not a need to panic like he does

Regardless of orbit or jet, he still has to sift through the traffic and he can’t keep eyes on the receiver the entire time. The offense had a better call on than the defense here.

Damn that was a great play call.

Should this not be a false start with the guy clearly in motion when Smith switches his feet?

Fantastic breakdown as usual

I disagree. I think he got confused, you can tell he is not fighting to get through traffic he was trying to chase down ebuka who Clark already had covered. On that motion I think he thought Clark/LB would bump down and take him in man coming across and HE would pick up ebuka
