It looks like their neighbors are the next ones to go. These houses were built in 1998. How far back from the ocean were they back then?

Building on a beach is not exactly the most sensible choice.

It's a really small strip of sand with hardly any trees left to keep it together with roots now. But they don't talk about that bit.... It's at the whim of the ocean with trees that need to be there to make ground... That heart near the top is where we used to live in Yorktown a stones throw from the water. Crazy amounts of flooding all thru nc va every year.
