Come take a drive through Massachusetts. The potholes in this state are so deep, so massive, so absolutely destructive that your stomach drops like you just went off a cliff. Your life flashes before your eyes... the whole thing... every moment... and you haven't even left your neighborhood yet. You drop into one of these craters and your hood nosedives straight down... pointed right at the pits of hell... and you're gaining speed, praying, wondering if this is how it ends.
