Many want to believe that this is the actual Cathedra St. Peter used when offering the Holy Sacrifice in Rome, but that is a pious myth. Pope John VIII supported Charles the Bald claim as emperor and crowned him. Charles reciprocated the favour with this gift.

The Pope just had a month long meeting, called a Synod, which gathered 350+ mostly bishops, though some ordinary people, to discuss decision making in the Church. Yesterday they recommended proposals, including giving lay people say in governance. Today the Pope wips out the Chair
