This movie SCORES A BIG WIN! This is James Mangold at his best. Like WALK THE LINE, he captures the essence of his subject. Timothee Chalamet is now a force to be reckoned with. Beautiful ode to music and remaining true to oneself and an excellent throwback to a bygone era in music. The scenes between Dylan and Baez are powerful and the chemistry is palpable. Oscar nominations including Actor, Director, and Picture are 100% guaranteed. It is now in my top 3 favorite films of 2024. I honestly was indifferent to Bob Dylan and his legacy before this movie. Thank you to Mangold and Timothee for enlightening me. I now am listening to the BEST OF BOB DYLAN as I write this. MUST SEE MOVIE! Treat yourself this Christmas to one of the best biopics in years. you’ve done it once again — a tremendous achievement and soothing to the soul. The kind of biopic that takes us to a place in time and deftly shows us (& makes us feel) what it was like to walk alongside Dylan & all of these artists in that time frame. Story efficiently illustrates this complex person’s journey from burgeoning artist to superstardom, how this stardom weighs heavy on him & his desire to work unconfined on his own terms, and how this complex persona impacts those around him. Meta in the sense we’re watching a generational talent (Chalamet) play a generational talent (Dylan). Entire ensemble is dynamite (especially in song) — was hyped to see so many grade A character actors as well. Re: the music — this @bobdylan guy has a promising future. My cinematic cup overfloweth between this & Nosferatu. 👏
