For who’s not a Superman fan, they might miss how important this tidbit is, but for any true SUPERMAN fan or for the SMALLVILLE generation, hearing a major Hollywood director, head of a studio division, saying he “didn’t cast Lois and Clark, he cast CLOIS” feels so surreal, and once again makes absolute sense why JAMES GUNN is the guy for the job and we’ve been just wasting time before. He is CLEARLY a fan, he knows what is truly special about these characters and what’s important to the people who love those characters, and knows how there is no Clark without Lois and vice-versa. The usage of the acronym CLOIS in itself already blew my mind, that’s how fans talk about and shippers refer to the Clark & Lois as a power couple, specially in the SMALLVILLE forums era. After seeing the trailer I had already 100% certainty he is delivering the SUPERMAN we always dreamed about. But after seeing the interviews from the day he presented the trailer, I’m literally like WHY IS HE DIRECTING SUPERMAN ONLY NOW??? HE WAS THE GUY FROM THEY ONE, we just didn’t know it. We could have avoided so much if he had picked Superman instead of TSS back in 2018… but oh well, maybe we had to face whatever we faced and see the previous universe implode so a fresh take could really take flight. And I’m here for it!!!

John Huston on working with Clark Gable in "The Misfits" (1961): "One of the myths attached to 'The Misfits' was that Clark Gable d!ed of a heart attack because of over-exertion in this film. That is utter nonsense. Toward the end of the picture there was a contest between Clark and the stallion the cowboys had captured. It looked like rough work, and it was, but it was the stunt men who were thrown around, not Clark. I got on well with Clark. I spent many hours with him in his trailer— thanks to Marilyn. He thought of himself as an actor, not a screen personality. He liked reminiscing about his early days in the theater—old-time actors’ talk. I saw very soon that Clark knew exactly what he was doing. Two or three times I thought I saw ways to improve his performance. I was mistaken. Each time I had him go back to his own way. He was nonplussed by Marilyn’s behavior. It was as though she’d revealed some horrid fact of life that just couldn’t be accepted in his scheme of things. Because I edit as I go along, Clark got to see the first cut of the film, and he was delighted. The picture was way over budget. He is buoyant, basking in the attention, until he sees his brother from Sicily walk in. His brother gives him a disapproving look. In that moment he realizes that to testify against the Corleone would mean going against his own family as well, which is a bridge too far. He realizes that his deal with the government is done, and that he is most certainly a dead man. He accepts it with grace and does what he needs to do. At the end of the scene, Tom leans over to the brother and says “La famiglia è tutto,” or “The family is everything.” The family unit is the strongest force in nature. It’s something I don’t want my kids to ever forget.
