Any time I get frustrated with one of the teams I root for, I turn on the Angels and remember that there’s always worse. Every time you turn on an Angels game there’s an absolutely bewildering assortment of AAA players and 28 year old former top prospects running amuck in the middle of the most unspeakable plays you’ll ever see on a baseball diamond. This team will firmly end up between 70-80 wins every year lol just commit to a rebuild already man

Two years ago leading up to the draft, Chris Simms had Bo Nix higher than most; Nix was his QB3. So, I followed up with Simms on this to look back at his pre-draft evaluation. "People draft offenses too much. That's the other problem," Simms explained. "So, they draft the offense of the team. That's how the busts happen. That's how Tim Tebow or Matt Leinart happen. Where they go, 'Oh, they win games and their stats are amazing!' And I go, 'Well, watch the game. Tim Tebow threw the ball one yard to Percy Harvin and he ran 80 yards and we go, 'Tim Tebow, amazing!' or Matt Leinart threw a screen to Reggie (Bush) and he ran 100 yards all over the place and we go, 'He's the No. 1 pick; he's a winner!' And that's how you bust on the draft. And with Bo Nix, what happened was, 'Oh, all he does is throw screens.' Well, here we are, Dante Moore, he's still throwing screens, he's got a big arm. That's the offense they run. And there was enough to see and go, 'This is a downfield throw, whoa, the ball popped out of his hand. He can do it with ease.' And then the decision-making and the accuracy. So, I feel like the narrative took over with Bo Nix rather than people just looking at what he is and what he does."

The Allen Graves experience: Game 4 I finally got the chance/time to watch the Raps SL game vs Miami yesterday. Great game, great win, but I wish the guys played with more urgency with respect to the SL playoff push for the top 4 seeds/tiebreaker. But man, what’s not to love about Allen Graves? The analytics darling of the draft will be the face of Analytics FC at this rate. Literally the definition of jack-of-all-trades. He can dribble, pass, defend, rebound, shoot, set screens, court vision, great bball IQ, making right/winning plays. Every team needs a player like that if they’re serious about winning. The one thing I really liked and appreciated about yesterday’s game is that, he got increased opportunities to bring the ball across the court/playmaking/ball-handling responsibilities. This is the one area I really, really, really want to see him continue to grow and develop. I don’t want him to be a pass-first guy. I want him to be able to know when to pass/when to score, more efficiently, and continue to have better understanding of court vision/awareness etc. If he masters this, you basically got a mini-Nikola Jokić on the team. I agree with what Jeremy Lin said on the broadcast. He’s going to shock a lot of people, and exceed expectations as the 19th pick. He’ll hopefully have a great rookie season. I don’t want to get too high or too ahead of ourselves, but at some point in the future, he could absolutely be in the conversation for steal of the draft. One more game left on Sunday before we gear towards training camp/preseason. I’m excited for the next game. 🎥: NBA/ESPN

Donovan Edwards ended the season (Ohio State, Purdue & TCU) playing with a cast on his broken dominant hand & a torn patellar tendon in his knee. He had a choice to sit out, but he decided he had to play because they already had no Blake Corum, a Heisman Candidate. Safe to say Donovan solidified himself as a program legend with the way he fought through 2 massive injuries for the betterment of the team. vs Ohio State: 22 CAR 216 YDS 9.8 AVG 2 TD vs Purdue: 25 CAR 185 YDS 7.4 AVG 1 TD vs TCU: 23 CAR 119 YDS 5.2 AVG In this day & age you have people sitting out of all types of games while being fully healed, just so they don’t hurt their draft stock or future which is a fine choice, but you got to tip your hat to the ones who fight for their University. The Don is stamped 💯

A 245-pound walk-on nerd with Coke-bottle glasses became an All-American. 11 days after signing an NFL contract… he was dead. Brandon Burlsworth turned down smaller scholarships to walk on at Arkansas. Walk-ons almost never earn scholarships at major SEC programs — rosters are stacked with blue-chip recruits, and the few open spots go to guys the coaches already know. He showed up at 245. The O-line coach told him linemen need to be over 300. So he ate his way to 300 — and showed up out of shape. Coach redshirted him. He used that year. Dropped 40 pounds of fat. Walked into the gym and lifted his way to 40 pounds of muscle. Earned a scholarship by his sophomore year. Started every game for three straight seasons. First-team All-SEC in '97 and '98. All-American. The Indianapolis Colts drafted him in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft. Eleven days later, driving home from a workout in Fayetteville, his car clipped an 18-wheeler and hit another head-on. He was 22. Arkansas retired his #77. Why do so many people nationally seem to hate Brock Purdy? He has one bad game against the Ravens and people are praying on his downfall? Usually people get behind an underdog story, but nationally, that's not the case with Purdy for whatever reason. He made Iowa State of all schools a nationally relevant program competing in the Big 12. He was passed up multiple times by every team in the NFL Draft and was the final pick of the draft. He made the 49ers 53-man roster as a third string rookie, stepped in as the starter after injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo and went 7-0 as the starter before losing in the NFC title game, where he got knocked out early with an elbow injury. Underwent elbow surgery and came back earlier than doctors had predicted to be ready for the preseason and week 1. He's now 16-4 as a starter in the regular season and going into last night was the odds on favorite to win NFL MVP. His teammates rave about his character and leadership. He's humble and treats people with respect. But many are praying on his downfall and want to see him fail and are now celebrating him having a bad and fluky game against the best defense in the NFL. #49ers #FTTB

I don’t compare his overall game to RJ Barrett but the situation.. RJ was referred to as HIM before and during duke.. I was asking is this the same situation as that.. but I clearly its not.. I was always really big on AJ until fiba U19 over the summer.. he pissed me off.. now that my emotions are out the way… I can see clearly how good he is.. my bad yall.. What team with high draft odds would best suit him?

You are an incredibly mediocre basketball team with no prospects of leaping into the next tier of the Eastern Conference. It’s not like ‘oh if this guy gets it going you’re right there with the other dudes’. No you’re not. Ja is a distressed asset. One of my favorite catchers in this year’s Draft is Ryan Stafford (Cal Poly Baseball). Excellent track record on both sides of the baseball. After a Freshman All-American season in ‘22, Stafford last spring hit .313/.393/.500 with 20 2B, 7 HR, and 44 RBI. Also hit .312 in 22 games on the Cape and .345 with Team USA. Relaxed setup in the box, stands almost completely upright with a slightly open front side. Small stride with minimal movement. Very level, line drive-oriented stroke. Excellent job of keeping the barrel in the hitting zone. All fields approach with advanced barrel awareness and plus bat-to-ball skills (90% IZ contact rate). Would put a 60 on the hit tool. Really stands out defensively. Across two seasons at Cal Poly, Stafford has thrown out 22-of-50 (44%) of potential base stealers and allowed just 5 passed balls. Good athlete, moves really well laterally and does an outstanding job of corralling balls in the dirt. Strong, accurate throwing arm to all bases. Plus defender overall. Extremely levelheaded, slow heartbeat type of player. Top-100 overall upside this July.

Since being fired by the Nuggets, Calvin Booth is consulting with college programs, helping coaches navigate the transfer portal. But when I asked if he wanted to run an NBA team again, the measured answer couldn't quite hide the want underneath it. "Nobody's entitled or owed an opportunity to run an NBA team. There's 30 jobs. All those guys in their own way deserve to be in that seat," he said. "I'd be foolish to say that for the right scenario I wouldn't be willing to work for somebody." Booth built a championship team, drafted a pipeline of players now contributing across the league, and left behind a roster framework that another front office executed. Booth said not a single owner has called. “My door wasn't knocking down with people waiting to hire me.
