In an unorthodox method 26 years ago today, Alabama Football won its 21st conference championship by using five quarterbacks and intercepting four passes as the No. 8-ranked Crimson Tide crushed the No. 5-ranked Florida Gators, 34-7, on Dec. 4, 1999 inside the Georgia Dome. Freddie Milons played wide receiver, quarterback and returned punts en route to his most valuable player performance in the SEC Championship Game. In the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, he lined up under center, took the snap, started to run to his left before reversing direction for a 77-yard touchdown run to give Alabama a 22-7 lead. Alabama started Andrew Zow at quarterback and during the game used Tyler Watts, Milons, Luke Tucker and Jonathan Richey. The Crimson Tide defense forced four interceptions, three by Jesse Palmer, and held Florida to just 114 yards of total offense (83 passing, 31 rushing), the lowest in the Steve Spurrier era. Seconds after the touchdown run by Milons, Reggie Grimes intercepted a tipped pass from Palmer and returned it 38 yards for another score that pushed the Crimson Tide advantage to 28-7. Shaun Alexander finished the scoring with 3:58 remaining on a 7-yard touchdown run that completed the season sweep of the Gators. Earlier that year, Alabama traveled to Gainesville and left with a wild 40-39 overtime victory. The Crimson Tide led 12-7 at halftime on a 27-yard touchdown pass from Zow to Jason McAddley and two Ryan Pflugner field goals (29 and 48 yards).

For those that had the privilege to see the greatness of linebacker Derrick Thomas in person, they will remember the significance of what happened 37 years ago when the Alabama Football legend ensured the Crimson Tide would not lose in an 8-3 victory over Penn State on Oct. 22, 1988, inside Legion Field. Thomas terrorized Penn State’s Tony Sacca all afternoon and finished with three sacks, nine quarterback hurries, eight tackles and almost outscored the Nittany Lions by himself with a fourth-quarter safety. Led by the heroic performance, the Crimson Tide defense allowed just 21 yards in the second half. In the 1988 season, Thomas won the Butkas Award as the nation’s top linebacker and finished with a staggering 27 sacks. To put that in perspective, Alabama as a team had 25 sacks last season with one extra game. “We made some changes at halftime to free Derrick Thomas,” Alabama head coach Bill Curry said. “Once Derrick Thomas is flying around, all kinds of things happen. They start looking for him. It’s a real nightmare when there’s a player like that on the other team.” CBS televised the defensive slugfest and announcer Brent Musburger described Thomas’s afternoon as, “the most dominating performance I’ve ever seen by a college player.” Philip Doyle scored the only offensive points for Alabama with a 39-yard field goal in the second quarter, before giving the Crimson Tide a 6-3 lead with a 35-yard field goal in the third quarter. Thomas added his safety early in the fourth quarter and a late quarterback hurry ended Penn State’s final offensive series when Lee Ozmint intercepted Sacca. Penn State finished with just 169 yards of total offense (98 passing, 71 rushing) and eight first downs.

A number of you have asked about the call at the end of the 1st Half of the Bethel Football game at NCC Football in which there was a potential fumble/TD wiped off the board for Bethel that eventually led to no score by the Royals. The full play and a breakdown of issues with the call are in the video below. To be clear, though: 1) It appears that the receiver did not possess the ball at or past the NCC 8, which was needed for the 1st Down (the officials gave the ball to Bethel at the 8 after the overturn, awarding a 1st down). 2) It seems like the wing official was marking forward progress but may not have blown his whistle. It is unclear how he affected the overturn decision in the first place. What is clear is that the officials on the field awarded a fumble and TD, meaning they did not rule forward progress had been stopped. As a result, this aspect of the play is NOT reviewable by rule, as it is a judgment call in real time. 3) No TD should have been awarded before the review in the first place, as the ball clearly was fumbled to the lineman, and fumbles on 4th down in college football can only be advanced by the fumbling player. The ball would have been marked at the spot of the fumble in that case. 4) The officials missed a clear Roughing the Passer call, as the NCC defender went for the Bethel QB's legs while he was in his passing stance. This would have been a half-the-distance and automatic-first-down foul. If this play was called correctly in the first place, it should have been called dead with forward progress stopped at the 8 1/2 yard line and the Roughing foul pushing the ball to the 4 1/4 yard line, 1st & Goal Bethel, with the clock stopped due to penalty. No matter what, though, the Roughing penalty would have ensured Bethel had the ball closer to the goal with 16 seconds left (when forward progress stoppage should have been called). Frisco ISD has 12 schools but 0 have won a #uilstate football title. Lone Star is the only 1 to make a final losing in 2015 to Cedar Park. Jeff Rayburn has waited 10 years to get FLS back to the final. He graciously took a few minutes to talk. Scroll down to learn more about FLS! Led by dual threat QB Trey Wright & a slew of future CFB stars Ryder Mix (BOOMER) Davian Groce (Florida), Jordan Deck (Michigan) & Karece Hoyt (Baylor) among others, they'll be a test for Smithson Valley's stellar defense. They scored 58 on Dallas Highland Park in the quarterfinals, the team SV beat in the final last year, and 56 on Aledo, the most ever given up by them in 163 playoff games. The video in the tweet is from round 2 vs Georgetown (courtesy KTBC-TV Austin). They've put several alums in the NFL despite only being in existence since 2010. Ashton Jeanty, Nick Bolton, Jaylan Ford, Marvin Mims are all alums along with P.J. Washington of the Dallas Mavs. Frisco Lone Star does have state titles in girl's track (2013) & boy's soccer (2023). The school opened in 2010 the same year as SA Brennan meaning the school is 17 years younger than Larry Hill's tenure at Smithson Valley. The school is named after the 1996 movie Lone Star. Sometime in August 2022, during my final year at UNN, I was representing the school football team in the High Institutions Football League (HIFL). We had 25 registered players, and I worked relentlessly to hold down my position as the DMF throughout the tournament. I started and played every single game. When the final was announced and we were told it would be aired on DSTV, I told everyone I know, my family, my friends, my coursemates, my crush, that I’d be playing live on TV by 4 p.m. on Saturday. They all promised to tune in and watch me. Match day came, and we started on a high note. I was everywhere in midfield like Casemiro, breaking up play, winning tackles, dictating tempo. Then, barely 5 minutes into the game, I went in to dispossess an opponent and he blasted the ball straight into my John Thomas. That pain? One of the worst I’ve ever felt in my life. It was unbearable. To make matters worse, when the medical team arrived, all they could offer me was pure water. Meanwhile, my manhood felt like it was on fire and my stomach was cramping badly. I stepped out briefly for treatment, and our assistant coach looked at me and asked, “Pablochukwu, make I sub you?” I screamed, “No, sir I dey okay!” This was the biggest game of my life. My people were at home watching. I wasn’t about to leave them hanging. So I went back in and played the full 90 minutes in excruciating pain, but still delivered a masterclass. We won and I bagged my medal! Immediately we returned to UNN the next day, I ran straight to Hilltop to check if my thing is still working properly and after a little this and that. I confirmed everything was intact.

Sometimes, a coach loses a game, much less a regional final, and they're ready to hit the showers, hit the road, and not talk much. It was refreshing to see Louisiana's Head Coach Matt Deggs, who'd just lost 19-5 to Mississippi State, after playing in mid 90s temps earlier in the afternoon just to get the opportunity, willing to talk about the game, his team, and even his expectations for next year. If you're fans of Mississippi State and its Head Coach Brian O' Connor, he will remind you of the same candor, plain-spoken-but-well-spoken type of coach who has both affection for his players but expectations of what he asks and demands of them. This is a coach whose team survived multiple elimination games at the Sun Belt tournament, played at all hours and even multiple locations last week, winding up in the championship game. And when offered a chance to deflect the lopsided score with the drain his team might have faced having only a short while after gutting out a win over 2-seed Cincinnati 8-6, he said his team wasn't tired, though. They just ran out of pitching. And, his analogy that "they were going to have to kill us, and they did" was a tip of the cap to his opponent, whom he deemed worthy of a long run in Omaha. Anyway, let's let Coach Deggs say that, and so much more, in his own words. Write it down now, they look like a team to watch in the Sun Belt for 2027. And, since this was the last game of the Starkville Regional, we'll remind you again the video is courtesy of NCAA Baseball and Mississippi State Baseball, with additional editing by College Baseball Central.

Luke Altmyer is one of the MOST DISRESPECTED QBs in the Big Ten heading into 2025. After a great 2024 season, this Illinois senior is getting ZERO love from analysts and so-called experts. In 2024, Altmyer was a straight-up game-changer for the Illini, leading them to a 10-3 record (tying the program’s single-season wins record) and three Top-25 victories. He had 2,717 passing yards, 22 TDs, just 6 INTs, plus 217 rushing yards and 4 rushing TDs, and he led the nation with FIVE game-winning drives in the final minute or overtime, including clutch TD passes at Nebraska, vs. Purdue, and at Rutgers. He was the only QB in the nation with three game-winning TD passes in the final 2 minutes/OT. He was the only QB in the nation with four TD passes in a Top-25 road win. He was 36th nationally in passing efficiency (144.90) last year, which is within 5 points of Cade Klubnik, Kyle McCord, Quinn Ewers, Jalen Milroe, and Nico Iamaleava—also tied with Fernando Mendoza. He is the first Illini QB since 2013 with 20+ TD passes in a season. All-Big Ten Honorable Mention and a Davey O’Brien Award Class of 2024 member. Despite all these things, the disrespect is still there. Analysts are leaving him completely off their Top-10 CFB QB lists and even Top-5 Big Ten QB rankings. They’re hyping up unproven freshmen like Bryce Underwood and Malik Washington, or guys with minimal starts like Julian Sayin, over a proven QB1 like Altmyer. Even QBs who haven’t matched his production—Nico Iamaleava, Dante Moore, and Dylan Raiola—are getting more shine. And get this: some NFL Draft sites don’t even list Altmyer as a prospect but have Hank Brown and Malachi Singleton on their boards. Are you kidding me? This is the same Luke Altmyer who turned down a massive NIL deal to jump ship to Tennessee—a CFP team last year—because he’s loyal to Illinois and believes in the Illini Luke stayed in Champaign to finish what he started. That’s a 2025 Wooden Citizen Cup nominee and a leader who walks the walk. The Big Ten is stacked, but Altmyer’s one of the top returning QBs alongside Drew Allar. The hype around untested 5-stars is always high and they'll get their shine this season. But Altmyer’s 35 career TD passes (tied for 9th in Illini history), clutch gene, and third year in Lunney’s system make him a game changer. He’s not just a QB; he’s the heart of a team eyeing their first-ever CFP appearance. So, to the analysts, talking heads, and draft sites sleeping on Luke Altmyer: WAKE UP. This man deserves more respect, and he has a chance to show everyone why sleeping on QB1 in Champaign is a huge mistake. Let’s ride, Illini Nation! #Illini #BigTen #AltmyerSZN

On Running created a wild new spray-on shoe. The process is called LightSpray and was inspired by glue guns. The method is a game-changer for footwear manufacturing, per NYT: ▫️It takes 3 minutes to finish the upper part of the shoe (see video) vs. 3 hours with stitching ▫️A single person can operate the machine vs. 100 people on a normal shoe assembly line (and only has 7 parts vs. ~150 to 200) ▫️”Rather than being put together by patternmakers, it is created using parametric design principles, and computational engineering.” How? A robot arm sprays “a single semi-translucent synthetic monofilament almost a mile long” on to a shoe mold to finish the upper (which is then “heat-fused to a foam rubber and carbon fibre sole”). The shoe is very light at 170 grams and has 75% less environmental impact than a normal shoe-making process because: ▫️It can be made near the final selling destination (instead of in Asia and shipped around the world) ▫️There is very little filament waste and the material is a thermoplastic (which can be melted down and re-used after the shoe is done) The lace-less (and form-fitting) shoe is officially called Cloudboom Strike LS and has already proven itself: Kenyan runner Hellen Obiri won the 2024 Boston Marathon wearing them (time = 2:22:37). Obiri will be wearing them at Paris 2024 Olympics, too. “It happened in 1979 with Nike Air Tech and in 1982 with the Air Force 1,” writes NYT’s Vanessa Friedman on the history of shoe innovation. “It happened with the Adidas Yeezys in 2015. And it happened with the Nike Vaporfly and the introduction of carbon plates in 2017.” The LightSpray will be commercially available in the Fall for $300+. That’s pricey AF but I’ll prob get a pair for my long distance…300 meter walks to Starbucks. *** Full NYT link: Making of YouTube video from ON:

The Night When Innocent Dreams Turned into Despair It was the night of October 17; silence reigned everywhere, and only the moonlight softly touched the hills of Urgun District in Paktika and the gentle folds of nature. The players, exhausted from their match, were returning home, joyfully discussing the positives and negatives of the day’s game. They were tired, yet happy, for they had won that day’s match. Little did they know that these hopes and dreams would soon become the last of their lives, that these would be their final moments on earth, along with several other innocent civilians. Then it happened. Drones, operated by the hands of the heartless, hovered over the humble homes of Paktika’s poor civilians and eventually targeted those innocent souls who had been striving to build a better life, those who had dreamed of raising Afghanistan’s name high in the world. Suddenly, a terrifying sound tore through the silence, and the bright moonlight was swallowed by clouds of smoke and gunpowder. In just a few moments, living humans were consumed by flames, and darkness prevailed. The only sounds left were the groans of the wounded… and nothing more This is the tragic story of the martyred cricketers and innocent civilians of Paktika, who lost their lives that night in an airstrike carried out by the Pakistani military regime. For more details about this heartbreaking incident, watch the full report in the following video. 👇 #ACB | #Paktika

Some may call it an upset, but Chadron St simply calls it another day at the office, beating the #9/#11 Western CO Mountaineers on Saturday (11/8/25) in OT by a score of 27-24. Chadron got it done in all three phases of the game. The Eagles’ offense presented a balanced attack, gaining 111 yards and 2 TDs passing to go along with 148 yards and 1 TD rushing. The Eagles’ defense held the Mountaineers to a mere 38 yards rushing, had 7 tackles for loss, including 3 sacks, and came up with a fumble recovery and 2 interceptions. The most impressive part of Chadron’s team on Saturday had to be its special teams. The Eagles’ special teams blocked two field goal attempts and blocked a punt. Punter Brodie Eisenbraun stuck one punt inside the 5, drew a running into the punter penalty for a 1st down, and had an amazing run off of a high snap, which while it was not a 1st down, it shows what a stud he is. Then there is Kicker Wilson Yee. Yee made an impressive 50 yard FG in the 2nd quarter. Then, in OT, with ice in his veins, Yee made the biggest kick of his collegiate career, drilling a 47 yard FG to give the Eagles the win. Also leading Chadron to the win were: 🏈 DJ Ralph, 10 Cmps on 22 Atts for 111 Yds & 2 TDs; 🏈 Tommy Thomas, 4 Recs for 66 Yds & 2 TDs; 🏈 Logan O’Brien, 10 Tackles (7 Solo & 3 Ast); 🏈 Cooper Walton, 10 Tackles (5 Solo & 5 Ast) with 1 TFL, including 1/2 a Sack; 🏈 Dax Yeradi, 4 Solo Tackles; 🏈 Aiden Kuester, 4 Tackles (1 Solo & 3 Ast) with 1/2 a TFL & 2 INTs, 🏈 William Stemler, 4 Tackles (3 Solo & 1 Ast) with 2 TFLs, including 1 Sack; & 🏈 Ryder True, 3 Tackles (1 Solo & 2 Ast) with 1.5 Sacks. Chadron will be playing for the RMAC Championship next Saturday when they travel to battle the CSU Pueblo Thunderwolves. Here are a few of Chadron’s highlights from Saturday’s OT win: #RMAC #RMACfb #CSCfb #ProtectTheRock #SoarEagles

The faggots showed “routes of Ukrainian drones” to the Leningrad region — through the territory of Belarus and NATO countries (Picture #1). Now let’s look at reality, confirmed exclusively by their own official sources. Here’s how the air raid alerts developed in Russia on these days: Video for March 23 (Video #1) Video for March 25 (Video #2) Video for March 26 (Video #3) We’ve been working for a long time on our own website — an independent analog of the Ukrainian air alert site, but for the Russian swamps. It shows not only the alerts, but also the work of their air defense. We just managed to finish the recording and history function right before the strikes on the Leningrad region. Interesting detail: as soon as an air alert is declared in the Leningrad region itself, literally a few minutes later it is immediately announced in the Bryansk, Smolensk, Tver, and other regions that lie “on the way” to Leningrad. We do not rule out that the drones could have flown over the eastern districts of Belarus. That option is theoretically possible. However, there is zero confirmation: Belarusian chats in those areas were silent, locals wrote nothing, and no objective evidence (video or photos) has appeared. A simple logical question for all their “experts”: If our drones were not flying over Russian territory, but somehow cruising through NATO countries, then why the fuck did you declare air alerts across the entire country? What exactly were your air defense systems “shooting down” over your own regions? Why did the alerts trigger exactly in the regions that, according to your version, the drones never flew over? And the most interesting part — why does this alert pattern lead perfectly straight to the Leningrad region, where real strikes and fires occurred on exactly those dates? - Night of March 23 — massive attack on the Primorsk port (one of the key oil terminals on the Baltic). A fuel tank was damaged, and the fire burned for over a day. Governor Drozdenco claimed “over 50 drones shot down.” - Night of March 25 — strikes on the Ust-Luga port (Novatek terminal) and Vyborg (a ship was damaged, likely the icebreaker “Purga”, and the port itself). Fire in the port. They claimed “33 drones shot down.” - Night of March 26 — attack on the Kirishi Oil Refinery (KINEF) industrial zone. Fires confirmed by NASA FIRMS satellite imagery. They claimed “21+ drones shot down.” You faggots, when you lie about “routes through NATO”, at least try to coordinate your bullshit with your own official data. The picture is hilarious: alerts across the whole country, air defense working at full capacity, “hundreds shot down” — yet the drones supposedly “never flew over Russia.” Draw your own conclusions, friends. Logic has never been Russian propaganda’s strong suit.

I VEHEMENTLY disagree with Paul Finebaum’s criticism of Coach Deion Sanders, Sheduer Sanders and Colorado. He called them irrelevant and that they don’t matter to College Football. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Colorado is very relevant and broke TV viewership records last year even after their 3-0 start that saw them finish the year 4-8. They out drew some of the biggest brands in all of College Football last year. Their blowout loss to Oregon had 10.03 million viewers, which topped the Notre Dame-Ohio State game. Shedeur Sanders stated that Colorado is everyone’s Super Bowl game when they play them. HE IS CORRECT, if you take the time to understand what he meant. Every team that played Colorado last year played their hardest against them because they knew everyone was watching and it was their opportunity to shine in front of the masses. It wasn’t JUST ABOUT winning, they wanted to humiliate them and kill their confidence. It pains many that Coach Prime, his sons, Travis Hunter, his coaches and all his players are still walking in their purpose and have never wavered for a second. They know the mission they are on and won’t back down in the face of adversity. Colorado wasn’t an “Easy win” last year for anyone except Oregon and Washington State. 5 of their 8 losses were by one score or less. Colorado making the College Football Playoff AT SOME POINT in Deion Sanders’ tenure would be a great thing for College Football. Not just for the increased viewership, but because taking a program that last won a Conference Championship when Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter weren’t even born yet would be an incredible accomplishment and rebuild. Colorado doesn’t have to go to the College Football Playoff this year and will still be relevant. Teams will be jumping out of their skin to get after them a little extra because they think they are too confident. Coaches will up the passion because they believe they deserve the attention and eyeballs that Coach Prime and Colorado demand. Like Coach Prime said, he is analyzed different and his wins are measured differently. One thing is for sure though. Coach Prime is building something at Colorado and as an analyst, I don’t think we should be trying kick him and his team down because they are confident and believe in themselves. They are great for College Football because they are different. Different might make people uncomfortable, but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong. Here is our full First Take segment together where Paul Finebaum speaks his mind and I speak mine too.
