Incredible Jump!

If anyone ever visits Ilfracombe in Devon, on the promenade next to the theatre is a remarkable mosaic representation of this incredible leap. Jump it? I had to stop and rest walking along the side of it

I was 13 when I saw that live on TV. Insane moment. And he did it twice in a row.

It looks like he sprung his final jump a foot behind the line. Am I seeing that correctly? If so, even more incredible.

What about the world record high jump from Xavier Sotomayor? He jumped over 2m45! Still standing after 33 years.

It was an incredible jump. 18m were considered impossible. He made 18.29. But there is an older record - women 800m from 1983.

I remember this twat - so religious that he refused to compete on a Sunday, smugly lectured others on this etc. Then a little while later changed his mind on the whole religion thing. Religion is hypocrisy.

I believe he has beat this attempt but the umpire said that the wind helped him so it was scrapped.

That's not even his longest jump! He jumped 18.43m in June 1998, but the tail wind was 2.4m/sec, which was over the 2.0m/sec limit for it to be another record

The spring mid-air was so crucial to achieving this, its a remarkable feat for real!

Like many others I have been to visit the ‘jump’ in Ilfracombe. It is the most astonishing sight how a human can achieve such a remarkable feat.

Edwards' slight frame was the reason he jumped so far. That was perfection 👏🏼
