They really just don’t want people to have access to cheap energy. The goal is de-growth.

Arnie @Schwarzenegger, as much as I respect you, you are factually wrong here. Germany has shut down nuclear and replaced with wind and solar. Coalburn is down, gasconsumption is down. The new gas plants are back ups only.

Closing existing nuclear plants is anti environment Takes a massive amount of emissions to just rebuild a similar level of baseload power that is clean and most of the times that’s not even what occurs (they use coal in the interim)

@AdamPosen I don't disagree. Closing functional nuke plants early is not a great idea. But this is a short-term blip. Renewables are becoming so cheap so quickly that they're making nukes & fossil fuels uneconomic. Building new nukes huge cost, as they just did in Georgia, is the crazy path

Hats of to Arnold. Sad that he even need to make this point though. We've been scammed.

Germany shut down its last nuclear power plants in 2023. That decision removed 4 GW of reliable, low-cost baseload electricity. The plants were operational, they were paid for. And worse still, there was no replacement capacity ready. Germany turned to intermittent wind and solar backed by gas, imports, and emergency coal restarts. The obvious consequences followed. Electricity prices surged, grid reliability weakened, and fossil fuel use actually increased. Chancellor Friedrich Merz has now admitted the shutdown was a strategic mistake, calling Germany's energy transition the most expensive in the world. A reckless bending to extreme green ideology traded reliability and prosperity for optics. Working nuclear plants were destroyed. And for what?

Elon Musk in 2022: It's extremely crazy for Germany to close its nuclear power stations. “I think it's very important that Germany not shut down its nuclear power stations. I think this is extremely crazy. I want to be super clear. In my opinion, Germany should not only not shut down the nuclear power plants, it should reopen the ones that shut down, and those are the fastest ones to restart. It's crazy to shut down nuclear power plants now, especially if you're in a place where there's not natural disasters. So if you're maybe somewhere where there's severe earthquakes or tsunamis or something like that, it's more of a question mark. I mean, maybe, but if there's not massive natural disaster risk which Germany does not have, then there's really no danger with the nuclear power plants.” From: Welt Interview, April 15, 2022

HABECK: "THERE IS NO DOUBT" GERMAN NUCLEAR COULD HAVE KEPT RUNNING FOR 15 MORE YEARS This week, German Economy Minister Robert Habeck clarified for Germans that the nuclear plants whose closure he enforced could've kept running, and that closing them was a political, not technical, decision. Although consumer power prices have declined, industrial energy remains more expensive than before the closure of nuclear, the cheapest generators of baseload power in Germany. As German industrial companies continue to place new factories outside of the country, several of these nuclear plants sit ready to return to operation. During the worst days of the energy crisis, Habeck and his officials claimed the plants couldn't be continued. International experts, plenty of them here, also incorrectly claimed the plants couldn't keep running. It is helpful to have Habeck's explicit confirmation ahead of the parliamentary committee of inquiry looking into the decision to continue nuclear closures despite the low of Russian pipeline gas, which seriously damaged German industrial competitiveness.

Germany's self-induced energy crisis has to be studied as a case study in how to destroy a leading industrial nation. After Germany phased out its nuclear power plants, it even blew up the cooling towers in an act of self-sabotage. And now, just as the world is facing its biggest energy security crisis in history, Germany has positioned itself in the worst possible position. Those 2 reactors once supplied Germany with: - ~4% of its electricity annually - Nuclear once accounted for almost 30% of Germany's electricity Today, Germany has among the highest electricity prices in the world and is facing rampant deindustrialization. Chancellor Merz acknowledged that the nuclear phaseout was a mistake but said there is nothing to do about it.

NEWS: In an exclusive interview with CNN, Arnold Schwarzenegger tells me that Democrats' plan to redistrict California's congressional districts (Prop. 50) is a "scam" and "a big mistake." Gavin Newsom wants California voters to temporarily eliminate its independent redistricting committee until 2031 & replace it with new maps drawn by Democrats to help Democrats. The move is in response to Texas Republicans redrawing their lines to help Republicans. "Two wrongs don't make a right," Schwarzenegger says. The former Governor is skeptical that California Democrats will ever want to go back to the current, nonpartisan system. "There's no such thing with politicians and temporary. Have you ever seen a tax that stopped? It's permanent." Schwarzenegger is urging voters to "vote no on Proposition 50." I spoke exclusively with Schwarzenegger and former Prime Minister Tony Blair for CNN at an event hosted by SchwarzeneggerClimateInitiative & Tony Blair's Institute in New York City.

🇩🇪 “We should have not turned off the nuclear power plants, we don’t have enough energy generation now” -> Chancellor Merz admits that energy prices in Germany are kept low with government subsides, and that Germany can’t keep funding it. He promises a huge victory, by announcing a speedy BUREAUCRATIC PROCESS to get permissions for new power plants and then, also to create a tender for the construction of the new plants, which then can be built afterwards. -> This is at least 5 years, if not 10 until the first power plant is fully operational. They do not even have permits yet. FFS

🚨🇩🇪 GERMANY SHUTS DOWN MOORBURG COAL PLANT AS ENERGY WOES DEEPEN Germany demolished its advanced Moorburg coal-fired power plant in Hamburg, costing €3 billion and generating 1,654 megawatts, further straining its energy grid. With nuclear plants offline and electricity production down 10% over a decade—while China’s soared 70%—Germany now imports most of its energy. Opponents strongly question their “self-destructive” green policies, arguing they weaken energy security and Risk economic stability. The move aligns with Germany’s climate goals, but soaring energy costs and reliance on imports have sparked debate over the nation’s industrial future. Source: @amuse

Gavin Newsome admits he is rigging California Elections “Temporarily” for only 3 congressional cycles by overriding its own anti-gerrymandering system. 🔻Arnold Schwarzenegger: “I think prop 50’is a big scam. It says that we should fight Trump, because he’s a threat to democracy. In the meantime, Newsome wants to go and tear up the constitution in California and get rid of the independent commission and take the e power away from the people.”

$600bn, 4% of the grid, Not ready til the 2040s 👆These are all LIES about nuclear power Here's the facts: 1/ '$600bn Cost' This figure is from the 'Smart' Energy Council (renewable lobby group). It extrapolates the cost of Hinkley C (the most expensive nuclear power plant ever) and literally doubles it. Even the CSIRO assumes lower nuclear capital costs for Australia. 2/ '4% of the grid' This figure is also from the 'Smart' Energy Council from dividing 11GW of nuclear capacity by 300GW of renewable capacity. However, Capacity ≠ Generation. 1GW of renewable capacity generates roughly a third of the power of 1GW of nuclear capacity. 3/ 'Not ready til the 2040s' The IAEA predicts it would take 10-15 years for a new to nuclear country to have nuclear power. The is the advice the Australian Government relies on for nuclear yet is being ignored by the PM & Energy Minister. These claims must be exposed. The nuclear disinformation campaign has gone too far. Also, no wonder the private sector isn't interested in nuclear in Australia. It's literally illegal right now in Australia. Learn more about nuclear: ✍️Sign to lift the ban:

🚨"The issue of nuclear enrichment for Iran is a non-negotiable, and the reason is that not only is enriching uranium important for Iran because Iran is developing nuclear power plants, but it is also a country that has always been experiencing sanctions. So if, for example, we have a power plant and for whatever reason US sanctions prevent Iran from purchasing nuclear fuel, then we'll have a crisis at multiple levels in the economy. This is a part of Iran's sovereignty. Iran has the sovereign right to enrich uranium. And for any country to tell Iran that you cannot do this because we don't want you to do so, that's unacceptable," shares Dr. Mohammad Marandi (Seyed Mohammad Marandi) during our recent interview. 🔴 Watch the full interview with Dr. Marandi:

A very important geopolitical event. Congratulations to the great geostrategist Putin. The United States signed a civil nuclear cooperation agreement with Armenia, pledging as much as $9 billion in potential investment as the South Caucasus country seeks to reduce its long-standing reliance on Russia for energy, Bloomberg reported. The document provides U.S. companies with access to export nuclear technology, fuel and services. It also allows the United States to compete for a deal to replace the Soviet-era Metsamor nuclear power plant, which currently supplies about 40% of the country’s electricity, with small modular reactors. "It’ll pave the way for American and Armenian companies to strike deals on civil nuclear projects. That means up to $5 billion in initial US exports, plus an additional $4 billion in long-term support through fuel and maintenance contracts. This is a classic win-win for both Armenia and the United States of America. It means stronger energy security for my own country, stronger energy security for Armenia, and it’s also going to create a lot of new jobs," US Vice President JD Vance said at a briefing in Yerevan. 📹: New York Post

Would you look at this. It turns out the future isn’t wind and solar, It’s nuclear power Happening Now: Construction on 3 Nuclear Power Plants has begun to meet Google’s net zero company goals after demands for more power increased with ai “Oak Ridge, Tennessee, they're building three phases of experimental nuclear power plants here. These are called SMRs. Small modular reactors, smaller, cheaper, and safer than traditional power plants. Instead of fuel rods, they use these fuel pebbles. Cut it in half and you can see the simulated specs of uranium in there. These contain the byproducts. The client for all this is Google. Google's trying to reach its goals of being a net zero company, so they need a lot more clean power now that they're using all this AI stuff. So this company called Kairos Power is gonna build them with luck by 2030, a fleet of small modular reactors for clean, safe nuclear power forever.”

🇺🇸🇮🇷 The U.S. is desperately trying to prevent Iran from rebuilding its nuclear programme while needing to get it back to the negotiating table to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The problem is that one of Iran's most important remaining nuclear facilities is believed to be buried too deep for even America's most powerful conventional bunker-buster bombs to reliably destroy. That has led some analysts to discuss a possibility that until recently would have been almost unthinkable: a U.S. tactical nuclear strike. The greatest danger wouldn't necessarily be Iran's immediate retaliation. It would be breaking an almost 80-year taboo on the use of nuclear weapons. That precedent wouldn't stay in the Middle East. Russia has repeatedly threatened nuclear escalation during the war in Ukraine but has so far stopped short of crossing that line. Part of that restraint comes from the enormous political cost of being the first country since 1945 to use a nuclear weapon in war. If the U.S crosses that line first, it's easier for others to follow. It becomes far harder for Washington and its allies to argue that Russia must never do something they have already done themselves. A tactical nuclear strike might solve one military problem in Iran. But it could also make nuclear weapons politically usable again in every future war that involves a rival with nuclear capabilities. Writer: Mhedi
