I traveled by bicycle when I was 19 from Los Angeles to NYC through Grand Canyon, Zion, Yellowstone, Michigan UP and Canada. It made me realize how much I underestimated myself, and how the vast majority of people are very generous, kind and hospitable to travelers like this.

I've cycled across Yellowstone. Pretty good time. If you gotta make it across in one day (e.g. Wapiti-West Yellowstone) you can't spend much time stopping to sightsee. We biked across, setup camp at a campground right outside, then went back in to sightsee for a couple days.
