Former Death Row Records security guard James "Mob James" McDonald lashes out during testimony in the Tupac Shakur murder trial and says he doesn’t want to send suspect Duane "Keffe D" Davis to prison. James took the stand on Tuesday (Aug. 18), Day 2 of the trial. However, he made it clear that he was only testifying because he was subpoenaed and should be treated as a hostile witness. At one point, McDonald became so frustrated with Keffe D's attorneys' questioning that he addressed Keffe D directly. "You gon' tell him to stop!" James appeared to blurt out. "Talk to your lawyer, man. This dude is tripping." "I don’t want to send him to prison, even though we don’t like each other," James also told Keffe's attorney. James, a reputed former Blood gang member, was working security for Death Row in Las Vegas on the night Tupac was shot on Sept. 6, 1996. However, he's adamant that he did not see the shooting. Keffe D is charged with murder in connection with Tupac's 30-year-old killing, with investigators saying he provided the gun used to shoot the rap icon in a drive-by near the Las Vegas Strip. Duane "Keffe D" Davis appears to call former head of Death Row Records security, Reggie Wright Jr., a "rat" during the Tupac Shakur murder trial. On Tuesday (Aug. 18), Wright took the stand for the prosecution and talked about the escalating beef between Death Row and Bad Boy at the time Tupac was killed. He identified people involved in the fight at the MGM Grand Casino that preceded Tupac's shooting and flat-out denied rumors that he was involved in Tupac's death. Wright said he knew of Keffe D from Wright's time as a Compton police officer and insisted Keffe was "known as a crackhead" but later "known as a drug dealer." During the start of a break in Wright's testimony, Keffe D seemed to look in his direction and say "f**king rat," under his breath. Wright's testimony came following the testimony of former Death Row security guard James "Mob James" McDonald, who became hostile on the stand and stated that he didn't want to send Keffe D to prison. Keffe D is accused of providing the gun used to kill Tupac in a drive-by on Sept. 7, 1996, near the Las Vegas Strip. He has previously admitted on multiple occasions to being present and involved in the rapper's death. However, his defense is now claiming he was lying and the prosecution does not have the evidence to prove otherwise. The trial is expected to last about a month.
