🇬🇷 There is a distinct, poetic charm that sets the Ionian island of Corfu entirely apart from the rest of Greece. While the Cyclades are famous for their barren landscapes and stark white walls, Corfu is a lush, emerald paradise shaped by centuries of Venetian, French, and British rule. It is a destination wrapped in a romantic magic that somehow keeps calling you back year after year, offering the perfect intersection of sophisticated European elegance, raw nature, and authentic Greek hospitality. To truly unlock the soul of the island, you need to immerse yourself in its diverse landscapes. Begin your journey inside the UNESCO-protected Corfu Town. Walking through its labyrinth of tall, pastel-hued apartment blocks and narrow stone alleys, known locally as kantounia, feels exactly like stepping into a hidden neighborhood in Venice or Naples. Once you have taken in the history, make your way northwest to the legendary shores of Paleokastritsa. This dramatic coastline features deep, jagged bays where dense pine forests tumble directly into impossibly clear, translucent turquoise waters that are perfect for afternoon boat excursions. As the day draws to a close, you have two spectacular options to watch the landscape transform. You can travel to the sheer vertical clay cliffs of Loggas Beach to watch the sun sink directly beneath the horizon line of the Ionian Sea. Alternatively, make the winding drive up to the mountain village of Pelekas to stand at Kaiser's Throne. Built as a personal retreat for Kaiser Wilhelm II, this panoramic lookout offers breathtaking, unobstructed views of the island's rolling olive groves and distant coastlines. Finally, no journey here is complete without diving deep into Corfu's unique culinary heritage. Because of its history, the local tavernas swap out standard Greek fare for iconic island comfort foods. Be sure to order a steaming clay bowl of pastitsada, tender meat braised in a rich, deeply spiced red-wine sauce served over thick Bucatini pasta or sample sofrito, an incredibly aromatic dish of tender veal simmered in an intense garlic, parsley, and white wine reduction. It is a culinary and sensory legacy that encapsulates a timeless way of life. 🎥 travelstoriesbyalexandra | IG

Tuesday, December 23, 2025 PLEASE🙏 share for: PAW Partnership for Animal Welfare Greenbelt, MD 20770 (301) 572-4729 💜⭐️Meet VAN🐾🐾 — the Rock Star of Dogs!⭐️💜 Van🐾🐾 isn’t just a head-turner… he’s the full package. At just a year old and 32 pounds, this showstopper has the perfect combination of good looks, great manners, and a heart of gold. Van’s🐾🐾 foster says he’s incredibly smart and eager to learn. He already knows sit, down, crawl, paw, touch, find, and spin. He’s currently working on eyes on me, follow, place, and stay. When he gets a little too amped up, a quick “get it together” makes him regroup — and yes, it’s as cute as it sounds. Ask him to “get your toy,” and he’ll happily redirect himself like the good boy he is. He is fully housebroken, and when he needs a break, he’ll even put himself in his crate for some downtime. Van🐾🐾 is wonderfully friendly with dogs of all sizes. He loves to play and can get excited, but he responds beautifully when another dog sets boundaries. On walks, he’s working on sitting calmly when other dogs pass by — he’s a young guy who just wants to say hi! Van🐾🐾 will thrive in a family ready to continue his training, keep his brilliant brain busy, and give him the exercise and playtime a young pup needs. This rock star won’t be available long — apply today! Some news: after four wonderful years at UC Berkeley Haas, I'm heading to Columbia Business School this fall as an assistant professor in the Decision, Risk, and Operations Division. I'm incredibly excited to be joining a division full of brilliant colleagues studying marketplace design, online platforms, business analytics, and data-driven decision-making -- topics that perfectly complement my own research. And I can't wait to re-embrace NYC life – pizza at all hours of the day, grimy music venues in Bushwick, and a robust public transit system! At the same time, I'm also sad to be leaving Berkeley. Haas has been the perfect place to launch my academic career. The brilliant colleagues, engaged students, and collaborative atmosphere here have helped me grow as both a researcher and teacher over the past four years. I'll also deeply miss the Bay Area's amazing nature and weather, as well as its unique blend of innovation and idealism. When I joined Haas, I announced it with a cameo from Chris Diamantopoulos (AKA Silicon Valley's Russ Hanneman). I considered doing the same now—maybe getting Eric Adams, Jalen Brunson or James Murphy for a proper NYC welcome—but the timing feels off. As excited as I am about my new job, this career move comes at a complex time when universities across the US, including Columbia, are navigating challenging tensions between government pressures and academic independence. I believe in the importance of maintaining both institutional autonomy and protecting all members of our academic communities. Despite the challenges at hand, I remain hopeful about Columbia's future and its enduring mission. As Columbia's motto reminds us, "in lumine tuo videbimus lumen" — "In your light we shall see light" — suggesting that through education and collective wisdom, we find illumination and a path forward. I'm excited to join this historic institution during a pivotal moment and to contribute to Columbia's long tradition of creating positive change through knowledge and research. See you in New York! 🗽

The first generation of DeePle is officially over! To those who minted—welcome! And to those who bought from the secondary market, you have my utmost respect. So... what’s next? I’d like to say this is just the beginning of an evolving project. There will be a second generation with fresh items and unique features, followed by a third, and more. I'm excited to dive deeper into the DeePleVerse and explore all its possibilities, and it would be an honor to have all of you along for the journey. Now, I’d like to share some thoughts and the vision behind this experimental yet fun art project. Over the past years, we’ve seen countless ups and downs, with beautiful and ugly moments unfolding simultaneously in web3. Here’s what I’ve learned along the way: 1/1s and Editions are fantastic for maintaining authenticity and scarcity, especially from incredible artists. However, they can feel too exclusive, making it difficult to build a larger community. On the other hand, PFPs are great for fostering a community, bringing people together around a shared belief. But they often lack the authenticity of fine art and can attract too much speculation. I’ve always wondered how we could bring the best of both worlds together. And that’s how DeePle was born—after much thought and exploration. I wanted to remove the gambling aspect, so there’s no reveal or rarity. I wanted collectors to have full control, allowing them to choose what to mint based on what they see. I also believe it’s crucial to strike the right balance between public and coordinated spots for the drop to avoid creating a speculative atmosphere. While I have some interesting ideas for the future, I’m never going to reveal what’s coming or use the word "roadmap" because I want to avoid creating unnecessary hype and making unrealistic promises. For now, I hope people find value in the experience and become part of the DeePleVerse. The goal is to build a genuine community, step by step, with each new round of drops, and to gradually bring in more people over time. None of this would have been possible without the Shape and Transient Labs. Shape created an impressive and efficient L2 chain that enables the complexity and functionality necessary for this project. And Transient Labs fully understood my vision, creating the perfect tool to bring DeePle to life. I’m incredibly excited for what’s ahead!

HOW WE MAKE OUR TRIPS MAGICAL - Cooking classes. In Mexico City, our guide took us to the market, then we all made extra-spicy salsa together. This is a beautiful way to visit places you wouldn't know about and get involved in a tactile activity. Perfect for families and older parents and very inexpensive. - The $325 underwear. We'd been traveling for weeks and needed to do our laundry. Our hotel, Aman Kyoto, would have charged $325 for a small bag of laundry (standard price for all ultra-luxury hotels). I said "NO WAY!!!" and we decided to go into town and find a laundromat. It turned into an adventure (as we stumbled into place after place that wasn't quite right -- one lady translated for us and said, "Are you trying to wash your clothes? This isn't the right place. This place restores kimonos"). We finally found a local laundromat, took our best guess if it would work, and went to lunch. Now this is a fun ritual for us every time we travel. Sometimes cheaper is way more fun - We hire a local photographer. We love our memories of our trips and local photographers know the best spots/time to take photos. Find the best ones on Instagram. In Tokyo, we use the same photographer every year - On complex trips, I work with a travel advisor. I used a larger firm for a 6-week trip across multiple continents, which was invaluable: They helped us navigate different transportation, recommended which safari lodges to visit (and in what order), and even suggested where to economize & where to splurge. Sometimes I know exactly where I want to go so I call a more surgical travel advisor. In the video, he got our NYC hotel triple-upgraded. Or sometimes I just do it myself. TAs are especially helpful for Disney trips, honeymoons, and multi-generational trips. (They also cost you nothing, but you should look into how they work. I find them very valuable) - 1 major activity every two days. The ultimate luxury is time, so we have a rule: 4+ days in any location. We also book 1 major thing (food tour, museum, etc). The rest of the time, we've pinned a bunch of stuff and we wander where we feel like that day - We know exactly what we DON'T want to see. When I'm attending a private tour, I tell them what I want to experience and what I'm not interested in. Most tour guides will take you to the usual hotspots because it's safe and people can say they saw X or ate Y. I know exactly what I want to see. For example, on a coffee tour, I told them the exact kind of beans I wanted to try and what I was not into. People in hospitality love someone who knows what they want!! This level of intentionality means you get to experience magic (it's not rude) I travel several months per year and I want my travel to be incredibly meaningful for my loved ones and me. These are some of the ways I do it If you want to know more, let me know in the comments More details on the next post
