India conducted its last Census way back in 2011. The data we have on population, age, sex, and religious communities could be completely outdated by now. But the Government is still sleeping 😴 Here’s the scoop:

The Census, which is the official count of a country’s population, is recommended every 10 years. But India hasn’t done it since 2011. The next Census was planned for 2021, but the Government used COVID as an excuse to delay it.

The Census gives us real numbers on: - age - area - sex - religions - castes - education - marital status - languages It also tells us how many people live below the poverty line and need public assistance.

Let’s say the Government announces a relief scheme for x crore people. But those x crore people are based on the 2011 census. Now, the number might have changed to x+20 crores. Hence, the scheme would never reach everyone who actually needs it.

That’s why we need the Census immediately. We need accurate numbers so the Government can come up with relief programs and schemes for those truly in need.

Use the #WeDemandCensus to raise your voice and help it reach the Government. If you want the world to change, you can’t ignore critical issues like this.

@CensusIndia2021 , Since the 2024 elections are over, Hope this can be prioritized now. On a lighter note, if it's delayed any further, we can straight away start working on 2031 census 😀
