Two years ago, seven like-minded individuals came together with a shared belief: India needed a stronger R&D backbone to become a true product nation. We had the talent. We had the ambition. But we lacked the ecosystem to turn innovation into globally competitive products. Today, that vision finds powerful momentum. The Government’s approval of the ₹1 lakh crore RDI Scheme is a landmark step, one that strengthens private sector participation, supports translational research, and lays the groundwork for technology sovereignty. Crucially, it aligns with the broader national mission of Viksit Bharat by 2047, an India that leads with innovation, builds for the world, and owns its technological future. We shared an idea. We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in the India AI Impact Summit 2026. Over six days, we spoke with students, researchers, startups, public servants, and industry leaders. The curiosity and engagement meant a great deal to us. #WATCH | On 4 semiconductor projects approved in Odisha, Punjab & Andhra Pradesh by the Govt, JanaSena Party spokesperson Bolisetty Satyanarayana says, "...This is a very good move by the Union Govt...Semiconductor business is already established in Gujarat, Assam, UP and other places...In India, for everything we need chip - from cellphone to camera to car to fan. No chip is manufactured in this country. That is the reason the Central Govt took initiative to start manufacturing in India. Unforunately, the raw material is not available at all. You have to import 99% of the raw material. Still, it is good that we assemble everything here. So, initially the projects which is announced for Andhra Pradesh, is for testing, packing etc. This is called OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test). OSAT is coming first because we are not manufacturing, manufacturing needs a lot of research and extra talent...Courses are available in Andhra Pradesh. All we need is give proper education...We should make India future ready. We have excellent people...."

Apple’s decision to expand iPhone manufacturing in India despite challenges shows the growing global confidence in the country's manufacturing ecosystem. Thanks to forward-thinking policies like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and sustained efforts by the Indian government, India is fast becoming a global hub for high-tech manufacturing. Just a decade ago, over 80% of smartphones in India were imported, and smartphone exports were negligible. Today: 👉 By the end of 2025, about 25% of all iPhones will be made in India, up from virtually zero a few years ago, when China dominated Apple’s supply chain. 👉 Foxconn, a key Apple supplier, has invested Rs 12,700 crore in India, with other partners like Pegatron and Wistron also scaling up operations. 👉 India is well on track to hit $300 billion in electronics manufacturing by 2027, with $120 billion targeted for exports. At E-Summit 2026, IIT Madras Research Park and Unicorn India Ventures announced the launch of a ₹600 crore deep tech fund — ‘IIT Madras Unicorn Frontier Fund - I, with a ₹400 crore greenshoe option, a major boost to India’s deep tech ecosystem. It is a significant milestone that today we are able to demonstrate our capabilities in terms of high-performance chip design in the RISC-V domain. Addressed the national roadshow on Digital India RISC-V Vega Processors and shared that PM Narendra Modi ji’s govt is all in and completely backs the RISC-V architecture in terms of developing chips, devices, etc for the Indian ecosystem and for the world. This roadshow showcases our ambitions to become one of the world’s leading nations in creating innovation around the RISC-V ISA and the DIR-V family of chips and systems. Last year in Parliament, I spoke about India’s AI journey and two clear priorities. First, from Make in India to Make AI in India. Build our own capability, invest in research, and strengthen the infrastructure and compute we need to compete. Second, make advanced generative AI tools accessible and affordable for every Indian, in every language, so that no one is left behind. It is good to see AI back at the centre of national conversation as India hosts key discussions on its future. Now the focus must shift from intent to implementation. If we expand access and build with ambition, India can move from being a technology user to a technology leader. The question is not whether AI will shape the future. The question is whether India will help define it.
