Quick take: India markets & #FIIs view: Why trends matter? 1. George Soros said - once a pattern becomes a trend, it gets self reinforcing. At that point, participants just follow the trend without questions. For FIIs, there is a “sell India” trend underway. Selling may continue until some events reverse the trend. 2. Selling can come to an abrupt halt & trend can reverse if markets correct by 20%. That’s unlikely to happen as long as domestic money continues to support markets. SIP investors are following a trend too. Without much questions. They don’t want 20% correction even though it might help them. 3. Finally, the govt seems to have made up its mind to gradually push floating foreign capital out of markets. Govt probably wants better control over capital & foreign money comes with stress points that they’re not comfortable with. It prefers domestic champions vs MNCs. Foreign Investors get this message. In any case, FIIs don’t matter as much in India markets now. Domestic money dominates as the country grows. And it should. For markets to inch higher in short term, the SIP fund flows need to increase significantly. And these nonsense IPOs need to stop. Which are those nonsense IPOs? All of them ! India Markets - 2025: Short post For those who say I’m always bearish: There are no bad stocks, there are only bad prices. Same with markets. Despite ever bullish sentiments, last 4 year returns since Oct 2021 are Nifty 50 - 8% Nifty 500 - 10% Returns reflect nominal GDP when PE reaches peak levels of 25 plus. That is exactly how it has turned out since 2021 #SIP investors should hope for a deep correction in markets. Coz that’s great for their long term returns. There is no point cheering for markets everyday at these prices. It only helps those who are selling now. Regardless of permanent bulls, that’s exactly how it has turned out to be. Only nominal GDP growth. 8% to 10%. Finally, More than half of all historical returns from Nifty is pure inflation. The 12% historic returns has 6.5% from inflation only. Real returns - 5.5%. These are good times for the economy . But not good prices for markets. Stay balanced, stay cautious. When markets correct big, back up the truck and buy. This is not the time. My thoughts CNBC-AWAAZ

This is not about politics. This is about fairness. A stock market investor takes real risk. They invest in businesses they don’t run, businesses whose inner workings are known mainly to promoters, 👉yet they still trust and invest. Markets can remain dull or fall for years. During such times, investors don’t earn anything for the risk they endured. Still, they are taxed twice: STT when they buy or sell Long-term capital gains tax when they finally make gains This is unfair. There should be only one tax: Either STT Or LTCG Not both. Long term Equity investors provide risk capital. They help companies grow, expand, and create jobs. They are partners in nation-building, not speculators. If India wants long-term growth, we must protect, inspire, and motivate the retail investor. At the very least, if LTCG must remain, apply it after two years, not one. Thank you Raghav ji for raising this issue. You spoke for millions who invest with faith and patience. This message deserves to be supported by each one of us. For investors who started investing after the pandemic, this is the first real market correction. Markets are cyclical, and given the way our markets went up from late 2020, this fall was inevitable. I don't know how good the data is, but it seems like the number of investors stopping their SIPs has gone up. This is the wrong thing to do. What an SIP helps you do is to average your investments across different market cycles. You averaged on your way up from 2021; now, you get to average on the way down. In 2020, large, mid, and small caps fell by 25-40% but then rose by 200-400%. If you had panicked, you would have missed the rebound. As long as you invest regularly in the right funds, diversify, and stay disciplined, your chances of long-term success are high. The other mistake to avoid is leverage. There's no shortage of businesses triggering you to borrow money to invest etc., but that's a bad idea. I've no idea where the markets go from here, and neither does anyone. What I do know is panicking now is the wrong thing to do, and you can get pushed to panic if you have borrowed. You are better off just investing every month and doing something useful in life than getting carried away by the doom and gloom. I still love real estate, but I’ve learned the hard way that debt can destroy even the best investment. While commercial real estate has gone through a major correction since the pandemic, that has also created new opportunities for investors willing to be patient and disciplined. My preferred approach is simple, buy properties in neighborhoods you know, keep leverage low, take care of your tenants, and think long term. The biggest mistake I see investors make is using too much debt. When markets correct or unexpected events happen, leverage can wipe you out. Real estate can build tremendous wealth, but only if you survive long enough to benefit from it.

The Strait of #Hormuz is still closed. It's day 115 now. We're almost at four months. Remember when they said it was going to be a few days, maybe a few weeks? It's just going to be little short term pain for some long term gain. Well, it's been four months of short term pain. In these "peace" negotiations they keep talking about the US giving Iran $300 billion. Never in history has the winner of a war been required to pay $300 billion to the loser as part of winning. This is all part of #Agenda2030 to stop people from driving, stop people from flying, cut off the fertilizer and depopulate the earth with massive famines... And, it'll go as long as they plan for it to go. That's it. That's all you need to know.

We should never manipulate markets that are very competitive and have been functioning so well for so long. The truth is about credit cards, every time there's a new entrant, it's so competitive. They offer 0% financing for six months. Now as a result of this jawboning, it'd be very easy for new entrants to come in and say, "Look, we'll put, charge 10% for the first year," which is what Trump wants, but if you all of a sudden start to manipulate or put mandates or try and control free markets, people will lose credit availability, and rates won't change long term.
