India has made a lot of investments in Iran with the current regime. Specifically in Chabahar Port, its surrounding SEZ and in Iranian oil companies . Some of these investments are closely in line with India's strategic policy to contain Pakistan, which the current regime has supported, to some extent, so far. End of the day, its the age old geopolitical equivalent of scratching each other backs. So yeah, to me this doesnt seem surprising at all.
