A teenager in Wisconsin was handcuffed and detained by local police while headed home from church with his grandmother after passerby told cops he was robbing her. Akil Carter, 18, was detained for six minutes after his grandmother’s blue Lexus was pulled over by officers. An officer on patrol had been flagged down by a black couple who claimed two black men had just robbed a white woman, and were sitting in the back of a blue Lexus. Zalewski said the couple pointed out the car, which was then pulled over by an officer in a “non-approach traffic stop.” He added that the citizen who reported the incident did not stick around to give a formal statement as requested by officers. Quentin Tarantino on Pam Grier & the opening sequence in 'Jackie Brown' (1997): "'Jackie Brown' (1997) is not a black exploitation film. Having said that, Pam is such an icon. To one degree or another, it is like casting John Wayne in a movie. That is not putting anything down, because 'Coffy' (1973) is one of my favourite movies, actually; I love 'Coffy'. Jackie Brown is a real human being. She is not a super bad momma - she is a kind of super bad momma to tell you the truth! - she does not get razor blades in her Afro, and she is not Kung Fu-ing people, and she is not pulling a sawn off shotgun and blowing a guy's head off. She is realistic; she is a real lady in those dire circumstances that I described. One of the things I liked about the opening credit sequence is if you are familiar with Pam's movies, a whole lot of them start with Pam just walking, and beholding the glory that is Pam. I thought, OK, I will make me the greatest Pam Grier opening sequence of all time. I think I pulled it off actually. The structure of it is very interesting. It is not supposed to be naked to the eye, but it starts off that she is on the conveyor belt, and you see her, you are drinking her in, you are taking her in, and she is walking down the airport and she just looks like the baddest creature a guy ever created. She has just got all this power and strength - and she is Foxy Brown 20 years later, she is Coffy 20 years later - and she has all this womanness, and it is great. In the last part of it you see she is running and running, and you realise she is just trying to get to work. She is not walking down the street to burn Harlem to the ground. She is a woman working in this world, and she is late for her job, and she is going to get fired if she does not get there. After the big bad ass opening credit sequence, two minutes later she is serving peanuts. So it starts off as this mythical, super hero figure and then by the end of the credit sequence we have brought it back down to earth." First of all, she is a pale blond with a stern face naturally. Why is she is dressed in full black for an interview that is suppose to endear her to the public? Second, If you simply turn off the volume and look at her face and body language while she talks, you are not left with a positive impression of her at all. Located on the slopes of the Pontic mountain range overlooking the Black Sea in north-eastern Türkiye, the ancient city of Giresun is known for its stunning coastal views and dramatic jagged mountains. But more than anything, it's known for its hazelnuts. More than 72% of the world's hazelnuts come from Turkey, and about 60% come from the Eastern Black Sea region where Giresun is located. Tradition of hazelnut farming goes back thousands of years here. There are accounts dating back to 1500 BC of hazelnuts being cultivated in the Black Sea region (historically Lazistan). Herodotus, even waxed about Turkey's hazelnut bounty in the 5th Century BC. Since 1400s, hazelnuts from Giresun and the surrounding eastern Black Sea region have been imported to Europe and beyond. Turkish historian Evliya Çelebi described hazelnut orchards in 1650s, during the Ottoman Empire. In Giresun, hazelnuts have historically been grown by women, and today women are also beginning to take over the production and sale of hazelnut goods as well, such as an array of chocolate products. In the past, the nuts were often exported overseas, only to be sold back to Türkiye in the form of things like chocolate bars and spreads. However, businesses like Home of the Hazelnut, run by three sisters whose family has deep roots in the local hazelnut industry, are starting to change that. THIS BODY CAM FOOTAGE IS NUTS! Even though everyone who’s posted this encounter has chopped this body cam footage up into 3 different parts, I’ve taken the liberty of piecing them all together for one video! May 11, 2025 in Tyler, Texas… a 33 year old Black woman named Brianna Erwin and an un-named White female are stopped by Tyler Police for suspicion of retail theft that allegedly occurred at Dollar General on Gentry Parkway. Officers encountered two suspected individuals; one complied, while Erwin resisted orders to stop, tried to walk/run away, tripped, and struggled with officers on the ground (including thrashing and biting). During the struggle she grabbed an officer’s holstered firearm and discharged it (the shot occurred while the gun was still in the holster). An officer then used a closed-hand strike. She also claimed to be pregnant (a later test was negative), and a controlled substance (methamphetamine residue in a glass tube) was found. I cannot get over the whole “I’m 3 months pregnant,” thing while being in possession of a controlled substance 🤦🏻‍♀️ Another unbelievable comment she made repeatedly was “call the police!” Umm…even though the police were the ones trying their best to get her big ass in handcuffs!!! She was subsequently arrested and booked into the Smith County Jail for a laundry list of charges that included aggravated assault on a public servant, harassment of a public servant, possession of a controlled substance, resisting/evading arrest, and related counts (plus she had an outstanding warrant). Color me shocked 🙄 5 months later, in late October 2025 she pleaded guilty in the 7th District Court. She received concurrent sentences of 40 years for aggravated assault of a public servant, 8 years for harassment of a public servant, and 12 months for possession of a controlled substance (plus minor restitution), for an effective 40-year prison term. I guess it’s true, everything is bigger in Texas, especially those prison sentences when you fire a cops service weapon! Bye-Bye, Brianna. See ya in about 4 decades!!! 🤣
