@Chellaney The govt has taken a perfect decision by stopping military action. It was obvious that India had the upper hand, however, that is not what matters. India should not get embroiled in wars during this phase of economic ascendancy. India took revenge of the massacre of tourists.

@Chellaney It's easy to say "why not go for the jugular". A deeper engagement risks getting into a war of attrition, no matter the power asymmetry - case in point - Ukraine. Such a war at best results in pyrrhic victory. Our overarching attention shouldn't be on Paxtan, but its iron brother

@Chellaney I feel that we could have used this opportunity to make pakistan surrender or put some conditions for ceasefire. We could have told this to US. Why we did not tell them to handover Hafiz Saeed , Kulbhushan still in pak custody. Even our BSF jawan in pak custody.

@Chellaney Very naive, read the treaty- it doesn't have unilateral exit clause. Can be cancelled with consent which won't happen, we know the reality India did the next best option, suspend indefinitely - that gives us the freedom to execute and maneuver as we like
